Horse of the day : Rip van Suzy (402)

Dark Horse : Stéréo (205)

Race 1 1. POKERSLY - Boasts solid recent form, including a last-start victory over the trip. Twice a winner at this level, respect

2. CHILL WIND - Appears to have gone off the boil this season after a hugely successful 2015. Still capable of popping up

3. CAFE ROYAL - Far from disgraced last time and was in good form, at this level, prior to that. Warrants inclusion

4. BOHEMIAN RAPSODY - Has made pleasing progress since returning this season. Runner-up in a similar contest last time and will be looking to go one better

5. MISTER SMART - Soundly beaten in each of his last 4 starts. Needs to show

signs of a return to form

6. SPECIAL REQUEST - Moderate for this season does not bode well for the veteran's chances in this line-up

7. DE BON ALOI - Ultra-consistent individual who makes most appeal on form and has done more than hold his own at this level. Winning chance

8. SPEED OF THOUGHT - Needed his last start when returning from a rest but does look limited in this grade. Unlikely winner

9. BE A FLIRT - Solid performer in this grade and is forgiven recent below-par efforts. Has strong, competitive credentials

10. SERENU - Outclassed in a better race last time but did emerge victorious from a similar contest prior to that. Capable at this level, respect

11. THEO DANON - Veteran eight-year-old and 10-time winner but limited at this level. Place chance at best

12. INDIAN WALK - Best form has come against considerably weaker opposition and in lower grades. Has also been well beaten at this level, so makes little appeal

13. BLACK JEWEL - Winning form earlier this season was in weaker contests. Subsequent starts have displayed limitations at this level

14. DIVIN LEON - Vastly experienced veteran who has shown signs of a return to form recently. Capable of making his presence felt so warrants respect

15. GENTLESHAW - Best form this season has been in weaker contests, and appears limited at this level. Makes little appeal

16. AL MURQAB - Has shown little in either start this season to suggest he'll be a factor. Yet to win at this level and is unlikely to break that duck

17. ORPELLO - Displayed his limitations in this grade when making little impression on his first try at this level. Unlikely to pose any threat

18. FAMILY ALBUM - Inconsistency in weaker divisions does not bode well for his chances. Recent form inspires little confidence in this line-up

Summary Challenging start to proceeding and, as is normally the case with these events, there are many with chances. Reliable (7) DE BON ALOI is ultra-consistent and makes most appeal on form, though (3) CAFE ROYAL could stake a serious a claim back in this grade. (9) BE A FLIRT is capable of contesting the outcome, if reproducing her best, while both (4) BOHEMIAN RAPSODY and (1) POKERSLY can make their presence felt too.

Selections

(7) DE BON ALOI - (3) CAFE ROYAL - (9) BE A FLIRT - (4) BOHEMIAN

RAPSODY - (1) POKERSLY - (2) CHILL WIND - (10) SERENU - (14) DIVIN LEON

Race 2 1. ASHKOUL - Has confirmed ability in both starts this season. Could find the frame going this trip

2. CEDAR BLUE - Facile debut winner over the trip and should be wiser to the task. Could remain unbeaten

3. TEMPERINO - Back-to-back winner over 2400m but against weaker opposition. Unlikely to land the hat-trick

4. ESKALIBUR - Winner on debut in a considerably weaker race in Germany. More to do against these rivals

5. STEREO - Ultra-consistent and in top form after back-to-back wins in a stronger line-ups. Warrants inclusion

6. BEYOND APOLLO - Finished behind Cedar Blue on debut and franked that form by winning his last start

7. GYSOAVE - Outclassed in the Prix de Diane last time but would have more of a chance at this level

8. TAMELLY - Will improve on an encouraging debut which was over this trip. Has a money chance

9. DARABAD - Has run well, finishing close up in each of his 4 starts. Another place chance

Summary The form of winning debutant (2) CEDAR BLUE was given a boost when runner-up that day (6) BEYOND APOLLO won next time out. Both should have more to offer with the experience but the former can confirm and remain unbeaten. (8) TAMELLY has a money chance and could build on a promising debut. (9) DARABAD shouldn't finish far off once more, while (5) STEREO is another to consider after consecutive victories.

Selections

(2) CEDAR BLUE - (6) BEYOND APOLLO - (8) TAMELLY - (9) DARABAD

Race 3 1. ZACK HOPE - Winner in this grade and over the trip this season. Down in class, leading contender

2. VICTORY SONG - Italian visitor who has performed creditably in stronger races. Warrants respect

3. PEARL DRAGON - Lightly raced, consistent sort. Outclassed last time but should pose a threat at this level

4. BIBACTIC - Competitive in lower grades this season. Needs to up his game to be competitive

5. SWORDSHIRE - Nearing a competitive mark, so isn't without a chance

6. NOBLE RAVEN - Has run fair races at this course and in this grade, albeit over shorter. Place chance

Summary (1) ZACK HOPE disappointed over course and distance last time but is better than that effort suggests and is expected to bounce back to form. He'd be hard to beat, if doing so, though lightly raced and likely improver (3) PEARL DRAGON should a serious threat, especially at this level. He was outclassed in a stronger race last time but will attract plenty of interest dropping in grade. (5) SWORDSHIRE makes most appeal of the remainder.

Selections

(1) ZACK HOPE - (3) PEARL DRAGON - (5) SWORDSHIRE - (2) VICTORY

SONG

Race 4 1. LILA MAHYANA - Too much to do in better races recently. Would have every chance in this grade on earlier form this season

2. RIP VAN SUZY - Has found her niche in France and can contest the outcome if confirming her consistency

3. STORMY ANGEL - First-timer by Stormy River to be ridden by Glen Braem for Andrew Hollinshead

4. SUPERSONIC DREAMER - Rested since a disappointing last start in July last year. May need the run

5. STORMY DANCE - Showed little on his seasonal comeback. Needs to improve

6. DES ANNEES FOLLES - Boasts fair recent form in slightly better contests. Place chance

7. MARCHIA ROSAY - Has shown little in each of her 7 starts. Makes no appeal

8. INSOLITO - Recent form makes little appeal, although capable of earning a cheque

9. RAINMAKER - German raider who has improved with each start this season. Place chance

10. PLAY IT AGAIN TOM - No form to make any mention of, so can be confidently overlooked

11. STATEOFTHENATION - Has not built on last promise shown last season. Unlikely

12. MAUA - Lightly raced German visitor who should improve to feature

13. IHAVEADREAM - October debutante from the stable of William Mongil

Summary Few of these make appeal on current form, but none more so than (2) RIP VAN SUZY who has found form since relocating from the UK to France. She'll be hard to beat on recent form. The battle to fill the runners-up berth should be a closely fought affair with German raiders (12) MAUA and (9) RAINMAKER boasting solid claims, though (6) DES ANNEES FOLLES has every chance of staking a serious claim too.

Selections

(2) RIP VAN SUZY - (12) MAUA - (9) RAINMAKER - (6) DES ANNEES FOLLES

Race 5 1. CHANDOS BELLE - Consistent sort who boasts solid form in similar contests. One for the shortlist

2. FRESH STRIKE - Progressive filly representing formidable connections. The one to beat

3. BOURGES - Has held her own in stronger races and will be competitive once more going the extra 400m

4. DORSET DREAM - Improving with racing and has finished close up in her last two starts. Another money chance

5. QUERETARA - Better was expected of her last time which does not bode well for her chances here

6. QUALIA - Made marked improvement in a similar contest over course and distance last time. Money chance

Summary Few with chance here, though progressive (2) FRESH STRIKE is given the nod to emerge victorious. (1) CHANDOS BELLE is better than her last start on the all-weather suggests and she'll be competitive reverting to the turf, while (3) BOURGES could make her presence felt if returning to form in this lower grade. (4) DORSET DREAM could feature too with further improvement expected.

Selections

(2) FRESH STRIKE - (1) CHANDOS BELLE - (3) BOURGES - (4) DORSET

DREAM

Race 6 1. MAMOURG - Last start in a better race can be ignored. Has a winning chance in this grade

2. MALANDRINO - In good form prior to his most recent run and is better than that run suggests. Definite each-way chance

3. BONITA CHICA - Last-start winner over shorter but may have her work cut out over this trip

4. MAGIC MAC - Ultra-consistent over trip and in this grade. One for the shortlist

5. ROCK ACADEMY - Well performed in native Germany but has more to do in this line-up

6. MADRALY - Has shown little in each start before an extended break. May need the run

7. HEY JOE - Battling maiden and has shown little in recent outings. Best ignored

8. NORMAN QUEEN - Fair form over hurdles this season but drops significantly in trip now. Watch

9. SPARBROOK - Well-travelled filly who appears to have lost her zest this season. Makes little appeal on form

10. INSAISISSABLE - Showed encouraging signs earlier this season but has lost her form since

11. MANDRAGE - No form to make any mention of. Unlikeliest of winners

12. NOVECENTO - Chance on penultimate start which was over this trip and in this grade. Don't ignore

13. ALCAUCIN - Could find the frame if reproducing the performances of either of her last 2 outings

14. THE ONLY ONE - Makes little appeal on current form so is confidently overlooked

15. MASTERBLASTER - Pleasing seasonal comeback when reverting to the flat last time. Winning chance if reproducing that run

16. ARIZONA - Improved form this season has come against considerably weaker opposition. More to do

Summary Many with claims and very competitive as a result. (15) MASTERBLASTER made an encouraging seasonal comeback on the all-weather when reverting to

the flat and, with Christophe Soumillon in the irons, can confirm that form with a win. (1) MAMOURG has a winning chance back in this grade too and should make his presence felt, while (2) MALANDRINO has the ability to feature and can be competitive too. Neither (3) BONITA CHICA nor (4) MAGIC MAC are without chances.

Selections

(15) MASTERBLASTER - (1) MAMOURG - (2) MALANDRINO - (4) MAGIC

MAC - (3) BONITA CHICA

Race 7 1. SALAR GLORIOUS - Posed little threat in a better race last time but would have a claims if reproducing penultimate start

2. TOSTAKY BLUE - Bounced back to best last start when reverting to the turf. Can contest if repeating that performance

3. STORMY RIDE - Moderate recent form on the all-weather. Could the turf

4. INDIAN SLY - Well beaten in every start for almost a year. Makes little appeal

5. CHOPSOAVE - Showed signs of a return to form last time and should feature if confirming

6. LYKASTOS - Last-start winner when reverting to the turf. Enjoys the surface, so should be competitive once more

7. EZPELETAKO - Frustratingly erratic but certainly capable of contesting the outcome. Respect

8. AGNES CHAMP - Moderate recent form inspires little confidence. Unlikely winner

9. ONIRIQUE - Ought to be better than last start on the fibresand. Outside chance, reverting to the turf, in this line-up

10. MONTINO - Fair recent form in weaker German events inspires little confidence. Unlikely winner

11. STAR ON THE ROCKS - Could the frame if reproducing penultimate start, which was over this trip

Summary Difficult to assess, though in a race lacking of any form runners (6) LYKASTOS makes most appeal on the basis of his last-start victory. (7) EZPELETAKO is more than capable of making his presence but he's unreliable, while veteran (5) CHOPSOAVE would need to confirm his last start to stand any chance. (2) TOSTAKY BLUE bounced back to best last time and could contest the outcome if reproducing that effort. Others have chances too.

Selections

(6) LYKASTOS - (7) EZPELETAKO - (5) CHOPSOAVE - (2) TOSTAKY BLUE

Race 8 1. PRIMUS INCITATUS - Erratic recent form, though does appear to save his best performances for the fibresand. Don't ignore

2. NEXT TEMPTATION - Runner-up at this level in his penultimate start on the all-weather, though does not appear to enjoy the turf

3. WAHIB - Fair recent form, albeit in weaker races. Does have a place chance

4. RAY OF HOPE - May be better suited to the all-weather surface but, on form, would have a chance

5. ETALONDES - Moderate recent form inspires little confidence. Best overlooked

6. TALAR - Would have every chance of finding the frame if reproducing recent efforts

7. MEDINACELLI - Boasts solid recent form and can make his presence felt

8. ZACK TIGER - Frustratingly inconsistent but more than capable of featuring. Respect

9. NALON - Appears to have lost his form of late. Makes little appeal

10. RAINDROPS ON ROSES - Ended last season in poor form and did not show any signs of improvement on her return. Watch for now

11. MEDAILLON - Has made little impression in each of his 3 starts this season. Unlikely winner

12. VAMOSALAPLAYA - Ultra-consistent sort who boasts impressive form this season. Leading contender and the one to beat

13. JIOSCO - Could find the frame on best form though is not the most reliable. Outside chance

14. EBA CHOPE - In winning form. Up in the ratings but can make her presence felt

15. KING DRIVER - Not beaten far in recent starts. Could find the frame

16. VOL DOLOIS - Bounced back to best with a surprise last-start victory. Needs to confirm

17. HERON LAKE - Runner-up over the trip in his last start but has more to do this time around

18. TITUS MILLS - Soundly beaten in every start this season and, as such, makes little appeal

Summary

(12) VAMOSALAPLAYA makes most appeal in the concluding event and stands out on current form. He'll be hard to beat. (4) RAY OF HOPE and (1) PRIMUS INCITATUS would have a chance of featuring if reproducing their best all-weather form on the turf, though that cannot be taken for granted. (6) TALAR and (7) MEDINACELLI are more reliable and have claims of filling the runners-up berth too. (14) EBA CHOPE is in winning form and is another with claims.

VICHY - 11th July

Trainer of the day : Jean-Michel Bazire (203, 414, 602)

Driver of the day : Jean-Michel Bazire (203, 414, 602)

Horse of the day : Vision d'Iroise (114)

Dark Horse : California de l'Aa (404)

Race 1 1. VALET DU SABLIER - Disqualified more often than not and expected to remain friendless in the markets

2. ARENGA DE NERET - Has just once shown any aptitude for the code and not expected to make much of a mark

3. UNION DE BELLANDE - A mare that is no stranger to a better level of competition. Drops in class and can go close

4. AULYNX D'ANY - Has ample ability but still rather complicated. Remains fully shod this time and can make a big impact

5. VAUSEJOUR - Moderate sort under harness at a low level. Takes first steps under the saddle and will be worth a small consideration

6. URANIUM DU CALICE - Modest sort that takes to this discipline in futile bid for redemption. Not a contender

7. UGO DE LA LEU - Very solid third to Vision D'Iroise late June and with front shoes off again should put in another good effort

8. URAGANO - Off the boil since last autumn and no sign of any imminent return to form

9. UPRIGHT - Respectable sort but still up against better and will need to show more

10. TEMPLE D'ORTIGE - Comes here on the back of five straight disqualifications and will not be easy to trust

11. VELINA - Third on her only start over the distance here but less effective of late and needs to show more

12. VAS LULU - Serious sort in both codes and twice a runner-up to Vision D'Iroise. Similar result on the cards once again

13. UBU DE LA BROSSE - Respectable sort when in the mood but has shown little in ridden competition and unlikely to threaten

14. VISION D'IROISE - Enjoying a renaissance since taking to this code. Winner

of three from three and expected to make it four in a row

Summary (14) VISION D'IROISE has takes to this code like a duck to water and the one horse capable of preventing his 4th consecutive win is (12) VAS LULU who has twice chased him home in second. (4) AULYNX D'ANY may be a little delicate but he has considerable means and can go close, as can (3) UNION DE BELLANDE who drops down in class.

Selections

(14) VISION D'IROISE - (12) VAS LULU - (4) AULYNX D'ANY - (3) UNION DE

BELLANDE

Race 2 1. DIAMANT LUDOIS - Newcomer to the game but looked a solid sort when qualifying. From a good yard and expected to go well

2. DIEGO D'AUVILLIER - Well-related sort that sees competition for the first time. G Gelormini at the helm and should not be overlooked

3. DOM CHAZEEN - Impressed on qualification but sanctioned first time out. Returns fresh and expected to make amends

4. DI ANGELO - Not a place in sight from two outings so far and will not generate much interest

5. DEMONIAK DES ANGES - Has looked rather modest from two to date and unlikely to worry the opposition

6. DESIR DE SENOVILLE - Respectable debutant at Feurs late June but up against better and will have to show more

7. DIABLE JULRY - Disqualified on first two before making up for it in part at Feurs. Looks a decent place prospect

8. DIORICIMO D'EVA - Made decent debut here last month before showing more at Chinon. Should come on for the race and play an important role

9. DELIO DU REYNARD - Fourth on his only start over course and distance and went one better on his last outing. Worth a consideration

10. DENECOURT - Is a good sort on the move and latest effort at Feurs did not go unnoticed

11. DRAKKAR LEMAN - Placed just once from seven and will need to find more to finish in the mix

12. DARWIN BEGONIA - Has a lot of promise this one. Not as productive last time out but can redeem himself here

Summary (3) DOM CHAZEEN is a colt with considerable promise and although disqualified first time out can make this his own if applied. (1) DIAMANT LUDOIS is well-regarded at home and although untried looks capable of going close, however he can expect some opposition from the progressive (8) DIORICIMO D'EVA. (7) DIABLE JULRY overcame a brace of sanctions to show his worth last time out and will be a tough rival if showing similar form.

Selections

(3) DOM CHAZEEN - (1) DIAMANT LUDOIS - (8) DIORICIMO D'EVA - (7) DIABLE JULRY

Race 3 1. DARLING OAKS - Three times disqualified from three but is still a filly with a lot to give and it is only a matter of time before she makes good

2. DIVA OUEST - Denied victory first time out when disqualified. Has a lot to offer but just needs to keep her stride in check

3. DORA LAND - Quickly disqualified first time out at Laval and not easy to imagine her upsetting the apple cart

4. DULCINEE DE JAMAC - Disqualified on her debut in a lowly event and is easily passed over

5. DAISY DU TAROT - A modest filly that has shown little aptitude for the game. Not a contender

6. DEPIA FRAZEENNE - Yet to impress at any level and unlikely to trouble the judge

7. DANSE DE LA VALLEE - Disqualified as often as not but is not devoid of ability and could get a look in

8. DURIANA - Placed just the once from eight starts but was no disgrace over shorter here late June and should not be excluded

9. DONA - Has raced respectably in Paris and following a decent comeback at Nancy looks capable of imposing in this company

10. DANCE DES LOUANGES - Surprised when 3rd over shorter here fortnight back and although not an obvious pick must not be ruled out

11. DIVINE DU BOIS - Consistently in the money this year and should improve off her recent Reims third. Claim

12. DIVINE ACTION JOB - Debuted successfully early June and has shown significant promise since. Can make up for latest Saint.Galmier sixth

Summary (9) DONA is a filly that did not quite make the grade in Paris but comes here with realistic expectations. She will have to contend with the improving (11) DIVINE DU BOIS who left a good impression at Reims last time. (12) DIVINE ACTION JOB did not live up to her reputation at Saint-Galmier eight days ago but in this company has every chance of making amends. (1) DARLING OAKS has still not managed to finish a race but she has lots of potential and if behaved can trot in for a place.

Selections

(9) DONA - (11) DIVINE DU BOIS - (12) DIVINE ACTION JOB - (1) DARLING

OAKS

Race 4 1. CYBILE DES ETROITS - Has shown no aptitude for the game so far this year and once again faces a stiff task

2. CYBELE DE PIN - Not disgraced on either recent outing under these conditions. No distance penalty and should not be underestimated

3. CLARA DE CHENU - Racing modestly these days and although a winner here last year looks outclassed this time around

4. CALIFORNIA DE L'AA - Put in her best performance to date when winning over shorter here late June. Is barefoot and well-in. Worth a second glance

5. CLASSIQUE ABELLA - Overcame a lean streak when finishing second at Beaumont-de-Lomagne and if form is maintained she could finish in the mix

6. CELEBRITY OAKS - Not the most reliable of horses but has proved very effective over track and trip and has potential to make an impact

7. CALINA DES ETOILES - Not at her best this year and now appears more suited to the claiming category. Unlikely to trouble the opposition

8. CUP CLAUDE - Has a lot of potential this one. Won smartly at Reims late June and with hind shoes off again looks a serious player

9. CARAVELLE PASSION - Delicate type and tends to go better left-handed. Others preferred

10. CRAZY BOMB - Occasionally tricky and seldom far from the action and if applied could finish in the mix

11. CARESS OAKS - Has raced well twice from last three. Looks to be improving and could get a look in

12. CORTERA BELLA - On a fine run at present and going barefoot again can only improve her chances. Claim

13. CHERIE FOLLE - Surprised runner-up over course and distance last month and although not a prime choice she should not be ruled out

14. CARLA LOVE - Filly that has made fine progress this year. Scored over course and distance last time out and set to double up

15. CHIVA JULRY - Has won three from seven this year and although less effective on last two is still a threat and can go close

Summary (14) CARLA LOVE has gone from strength to strength this term and looks the obvious choice in this field. That said (8) CUP CLAUDE looks a serious filly when unshod behind and the 25m advantage will not hurt her prospects. (15) CHIVA

JULRY is worth significantly more than her last two results suggest and she represents a respectable place chance, while the on-form (12) CORTERA BELLA is not here just for a lower order cheque.

Selections

(14) CARLA LOVE - (8) CUP CLAUDE - (15) CHIVA JULRY - (12) CORTERA

BELLA

Race 5 1. COEUR DE MEAUCE - Fourth straight attempt over the distance here but yet to make the frame and looks an improbable choice this time too

2. CEPAGE DES ULMES - Has never looked better and with the 25m advantage has the capacity to impose yet again

3. CAPORAL LA BORIE - Rather modest individual that has little to offer at this level and chances limited

4. CAPRIO DE COUDDE - Useful sort in lesser company and even with hind shoes will will have to raise his game

5. CARUSO JULRY - Showed serious promise earlier on but has lost his way of late and must confirm

6. CICERON - Tends to give his best when not disqualified and with application can finish in the mix

7. CRONOS DES MONTILS - Disqualified six from six this year and simply not a realistic proposition

8. CREVIGOR - Won over track and trip late May but is unshod in from this time and looks to have his work cut out

9. CILENTO - Unlucky here last time out. Unshod behind this time and can give this a good go

10. CANADA EXPRESS - Barring the rare blip he is difficult to knock. Won pleasantly at Bernay three weeks ago and expected to go close

11. COLIBRI DES ILES - On top form since late March and consistently seen at the business end. Not to be underestimated

12. COCKTAIL JULINO - Very useful sort and consistently in the mix. Fully shod this time but with J-M Bazire at the helm he is still worth a consideration

13. CRACK DE BANNES - On top form and consistently threatening. Likes these conditions and looks set to get back to winning ways

14. CALVA NORMAND - Certainly not devoid of ability but not the most reliable. If in the mood he can wipe the floor with the opposition

15. COW BOY DU GUERET - Enjoying a fine run of form but is fully shod this time and not expected to prove as dangerous

16. CHEF CADE - Just made it into this field. Has the potential to improve on recent effort at Cabourg

Summary

(13) CRACK DE BANNES is in cracking form and again with hind shoes off will prove a tough opponent, but with (2) CEPAGE DES ULMES enjoying a similar run and with a 25m advantage he will have his work cut out. (10) CANADA EXPRESS makes the trip with realistic ambition, while the change of scenery should prove a boon to (16) CHEF CADE. (6) CICERON has ample ability and if he gets off on the right foot there could be a minor money spot in it for him.

Selections

(13) CRACK DE BANNES - (2) CEPAGE DES ULMES - (10) CANADA

EXPRESS - (16) CHEF CADE - (6) CICERON

Race 6 1. BOLERO DU SABLIER - Has made his mark here twice since late May. Less effective last time when fully shod. Similar formula this time and not an immediate threat

2. BINGO DE CARSI - Lightly raced sort that has show a lot of promise. Beaten by little at Segre recently and expected to play an important role

3. BONITA JULRY - Capable mare but up against the boys looks to have too much to do

4. BE SERIOUS - On a fine run of form and appreciates this track. Good third over course and distance five days ago and steps up with legitimate ambition

5. BISCUIT - Undeniable ability but can prove a tricky sort. Lacklustre here last time but not one to be overlooked

6. BLACK JACK LA NUIT - Handy sort that tends to be seen in better company. Drops in class but will still have to deal with the extra 25m

7. BLEVEN - Hardy horse that always gives his best. Encouraged in Quinte over course and distance five days ago and will once again be worth watching

8. BATTAMBANG - Good campaigner that lost his way this year. Takes big drop in category and with hind shoes off looks a player

9. BRIGHT CHARM - Going well of late and in spite of recent Vittel blip can make amends and put on a good show

10. BANDIT DU COUDOU - Highly effective horse that is seldom far from the action. Surprisingly disqualified last time out but redemption is on the cards and big performance expected

11. BANJO DE LA NOEMIE - Useful sort but twice unplaced in last three. Monclin back in driving seat and will garner significant support

12. BEAUTIFUL DUSSAC - Seldom seen under harness. More effective in ridden competition and little anticipated

Summary (2) BINGO DE CARSI is a fine sort that is seldom out of the picture. His latest start was most encouraging and he could well open his seasonal tally here. Opposition can be expected from the tough (11) BANJO DE LA NOEMIE who now has a top driver back in control, although (10) BANDIT DU COUDOU is never shy about showing off and will be no pushover. (8) BATTAMBANG takes a big drop down the ladder and should return to competitive ways.

Selections

(2) BINGO DE CARSI - (11) BANJO DE LA NOEMIE - (10) BANDIT DU COUDOU - (8) BATTAMBANG

Race 7 1. APOLLON DU BECORE - Looked good at Saint-Galmier 8 days ago when barefoot. Similar formula again and worth a second thought

2. AMERICAN DAY - Last made the frame eleven months ago and once again offers little hope of redemption

3. ARAGON ROYAL - Has failed to make any impact on either start this year and can be confidently disregarded

4. ACCENT - Racing respectably but not getting home. Hind shoes off for first time in his career and will be worth monitoring

5. VOLTAGE DARCHE - Looks a very ordinary sort at the moment and no reasonable chance

6. UN BAROUDEUR - A more productive horse under the saddle and on recent harness form can be ruled out

7. ANTIK DE MORGE - Has made his mark in better company but recently below par. Needs to confirm

8. ALORS DE BLEMONT - Morphed into a serious horse last year and hardly ever disappoints. Will generate significant interest

9. VERGA - Has fine aptitude this one but off the track for over two months and will need the race

10. ANDIAMO DE MONCHEL - Scored nicely at Strasbourg mid-June but disappointed next time. Bazar drafted in for the occasion and looks capable of shaking things up

11. VRAI DE CLERLANDE - Capricious sort but ample aptitude when racing barefoot. On that basis he could trot away with this if behaved

12. ALTONICO - Enjoyed a very productive winter but has had just one comeback start and unlikely to be race-fit

13. ATHOS DU MANOLET - Scored a hat-trick earlier in the season but less effective since. Drops in class and should play a leading role

14. VIVARIO DU BELLAY - Out of sorts recently but will be driven by a serious professional this time and now represents a decent chance

15. ANICET LE FOL - Off the boil before taking a spell. Unseen for almost two months and looks an unlikely candidate

Summary Dependability is not (11) VRAI DE CLERLANDE's strong suit but when in the mood is quite a force but he will not have it all his own way with Franck Ouvrie

taking over with the smart (13) ATHOS DU MANOLET. (8) ALORS DE BLEMONT keeps on going like a Duracell bunny and should once again finish in the mix, and with Monclin entrusted with (14) VIVARIO DU BELLAY he appears the best prospect for a lower order spot.

Vincent Martens who could easily work his magic. Course-winner (6) BOSTON DELO is likely to be in the shake-up.
