SWEETSUMMER TIMEAUBURN, AL What makes a memory? An experience. The Auburn-Opelika area is full of unique opportunities and events that will find their way into our hearts as some of our favorite memories. What are some of your favorites?

Near Auburn, AL, Randle Farms grows quality meats and produce for their farm store, local restaurants, and their Commu-nity Supported Agriculture program. The original 35 acre farm was purchased in September of 1975 and has been added to over the years, first by a 16 acre growing

parcel in the early 1980’s and then by 160 acreas in the mid 1990’s.

The images of any sweet summer may include warm days, bright sunshine and tasty berries...right? Well, if you take a trip to Randall Farms this will definitely be true. After spending the afternoon (or perhaps the cooler morning) picking plump, ripe berries (and taste testing a few) you’ll walk away from the 10 acres they currently have in blueberry production with buckets full of this blue gem, free to enjoy the tasty treat in any way you choose after you leave the pictur-esque farm.

Stained little hands will surely enjoy this unique experience that may become a family tradition (who wouldn’t want to relive an experience with such delicious results?)

For more information (and great recipes) find them online at www.RandleFarms.net.

Welcome to Complete Coverage, an Auburn-Opelika community insider newsletter. I am Rusty Prewett of the Allstate Prewett Insurance Group and founder of the “We LOVE Our Cause” community initiative. As 2001 Auburn graduates, my wife Mandy and I have a connection to the Auburn-Opelika area like many others do.

In September of 2011, I opened an Allstate Insurance agency in the area, now known as the Allstate Prewett Insur-ance Group. After moving to Auburn, we found there are many activities for family, friends and couples in Auburn-Opelika area, but not much guidance outside of the web in how to find them. So, we bring you a consolidation of the online websites right here!

This newsletter is my way of giving back to our great community. Also giving back to the community is our “We LOVE Our Cause” program. This program was created to raise awareness for many of our local nonprofit organiza-tions in the Auburn-Opelika area. I want to thank all of the participating organizations and the community for their continued loyalty and support of this cause and community awareness. I am passionate about this program and raising awareness for the many great causes that are in our very own backyard. I encourage all of you to visit www.weloveourcause.com to find ad-ditional information on the program.

Enjoy this newsletter, which you will receive bi-monthly or find it online at www.yourcompletecoverage.com

The facts don’t lie. Cavities are a hugeproblem for children and teenagers in oursociety. Cavities can lead to painfultoothaches and serious infections.

What is causing the alarming rate ofcavities in our children? Our diet. We live ina society that is highly dependent on sugar.

I think everyone is aware of the sugars incakes, cookies and candies. However, I thinkthe “silent assassin” is the sugar in ourdrinks. a lot of people don't realize howharmful sugary drinks are. Especially sportsdrinks, soda, chocolate/strawberry milk, sweet tea, etc.

n Dental decay (cavities) is the most prevalent infectious disease among children.

n The number of cavities in 2-5 year olds is on the rise for the first time since the 1970’s.

n More than 40% of children have cavitiesby the time they reach kindergarten

n The overall rate of dental decay is highest during adolescence.

1. Brush and floss twice per day. Especially at night just before bedtime.

2. Limit sugary drinks to one time per day.

3. Don’t eat or drink anything after you brush at night (only water).

4. Limit your sweets to dessert times (right after meals) and not in between meals.

5. Use a fluoride toothpaste (but don’t swallow it).

6. Visit a dentist every 6 months.

I hope you’ll find this information interesting and useful. Please let us know if there is anythingwe can do to help keep your child “cavity free”!

OPELIKA, AL Join us in at the Court-house Square in downtown Opelika this summer for the outdoor farm-er’s market. Come walk around the square each Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. to find fresh, local produce ranging from heirloom tomatoes to collard greens. You may even find some fresh bread, homemade ice cream or local honey.

Pam Powers-Smith, the director of Opelika Main Street, said the mar-ket began because of a state driven project.

“Seven or eight years ago the state decided that they would try to help promote farmer’s markets across the state to encourage people to shop for local produce, so they

kinda wanted to give assistance to cities all across the state,” she said. “So, they kind of will tell us when we should start, when we should stop, and they kind of help us make sure that all of our farmers are growing their own produce and that they have permits, etc.”

Depending on the year’s crop, the

market may continue through Sep-tember or until produce is depleted. Look for further updates about the end date.

For more information, contact Pam Powers-Smith, director of Opelika Main Street or find the Opelika Main Street Farmer’s Market on Facebook.

LEE COUNTY, AL For so many in this community (and around the country) the beginning of summer is marked by the end of school. Well, it’s that time again. Kids can’t wait for their breaks from homework and tests, “no more pencils, no more books, no more teachers’ dirty looks...”

So, when will we see those big yellow buses park for a few months and instead start looking out for children at play? We’ll tell you.
