Born in Toyohashi, Japan, Yasuhiko “Hiko” Maeda has been exploring artistic pursuits since he was a young boy. Having demonstrated a strong talent for sculpture and three-dimensional artwork in his college courses, Hiko became the apprentice of Yashuhei Fujioka, the original Master Sculptor of Precious Moments©. Upon his graduation, he embarked on an amazing career interpreting the two-dimensional world into original artwork and three-dimensional collections. Hiko is currently the Master Sculptor for Precious Moment© and works under the artistic direction of owner Deb Butcher.

As a Disney artist for nearly 15 years, Michelle St. Laurent’s artwork has been an everyday presence at Walt Disney World® Resort both as a fine art painter and designer. Over the years, her work at Disney Design Group has been featured throughout Disney Parks and Resorts on merchandise, fine art paintings, and even ticket stubs for Magic Kingdom® Park. As a part of the Disney Fine Art collection, her art has even been featured on the Disney Cruise Line® and in numerous galleries and exhibitions around the world.

In 1993, a 30-year museum retrospective of his work was mounted at the Carnegie Art Museum in Oxnard, California, and in the same year Robert was named "International Collectible Artist of the Year." In 1995, Robert was commissioned by The Walt Disney Company to prototype miniatures for their Enchanted Places Program. Robert continues his close association with Disney, designing miniature sculptures, Gallery of Light pieces and Pokitpals that represent famous Disneyland® Resort and Walt Disney World® Resort facades, attractions, characters, and icons.

At D23 EXPO 2015, D23 is bringing two popular presentations from prior Destination D events together for a celebration of Walt Disney World Resort—including a look back to its construction, early development, and favorite attractions of the past with Disney Legend and Walt Disney Archives founder Dave Smith. Then, Imagineer Jason Grandt will provide a modern look at Disney Parks and offer a designer’s point of view of details and “Easter Eggs” found throughout different attractions.

Born and raised in the Republic of Panama, George Scribner moved to the United States in 1977 to pursue a career in animation. After several years of working at various studios, George was hired by The Walt Disney Studios as an animator. After animating on various projects, George went on to direct the animated feature Oliver & Company (1988), became a concept and story artist on projects that included Disney's The Lion King, Fantasia/2000, and Dinosaur, and later worked at Walt Disney Imagineering.

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm Artist Signing: Bob Elias Location: Disney Dream Store Limit two (2) items signed per Artist, per Guest. Bob Elias spent his boyhood immersed in the beauty of Carmel-by-the-Sea. His aesthetic appetite and artistic abilities developed at an early age. In his senior year of high school, Bob had the opportunity to work at Disneyland Park and to this day cherishes the memories of walking through Fantasyland, pausing on Sleeping Beauty Castle drawbridge to listen to the music and take in the surroundings. In 2005, Bob was given the opportunity create original paintings for Disney Theme Park Merchandise, which he continues to do today.

From the silent film days when organists played live accompaniments to the music within today’s animated features, this documentary traces the origins of cartoon music and its pioneers––featuring interviews with Alan Menken, Randy Newman, Patrick Doyle, Mark Watters, Bruce Broughton, Richard Sherman, and many others. Producer and director Dave Bossert will lead a star-studded Q&A following the presentation.
