red cabinet where the body of Hyde is found. In the laboratory, the two discover a large
envelope addressed to Mr. Utterson. Inside, Jekyll urges Utterson to read the pac kage from
Lanyon and if he wished to know more, read the further description that Jekyll provided
within the envelope.
Lanyon's narrative begins by describing a strange letter he received from HenryJekyll, the night after a dinner party at Jekyll's residence. The letter urges Lanyon to go to
Jekyll's house and get the contents of a drawer in the laboratory. Afterwards, a strange
caller will come to Lanyon's house in Jekyll's name and recover these same items, powder, a
phial, and a paper book. Lanyon does as much, thinking that Jekyll is crazy, and Mr. Hyde
appears at the subscribed time. He gives Hyde the ingredients; Hyde mixes them into a
potion, and after drinking it transforms into Dr. Jekyll. This shock, the pure evilness of the
situation, was what brought about Lanyon's ubsequent death.
After reading the account of Dr. Lanyon, Utterson then reads Jekyll's own account of
his failed experiment. Jekyll believed that the soul is made up of two separate distinctions:evil and the good. These two separate beings live in continuous and inherent conflict with
each other. Slowly, Jekyll begins an experiment where he makes two potions and transforms
himself into Edward Hyde. Shortly after becoming Hyde, he drinks a second potion and once
again becomes Henry Jekyll. This experiment begins Jekyll's exploration of his other self, a
side that he freely explores and feels no remorse for the negative and evil actions of Mr.
Hyde.
For some months, this behavior continued until one moment, "I had gone to bed
Henry Jekyll, I had awakened Edward Hyde." Alerted that the character of Hyde might
irrevocably stay, Jekyll chose to give up the freedom of Hyde and for two months his
decision held weight. Unfortunately, he was tortured with Hyde's longing and he once again
took the potion and brutally murdered Carew. Because of the manhunt for Hyde, he swore
this character off forever and set out to try to remedy the evil. This, however, failed because
Hyde was an irrevocable part of Jekyll's character. One night, while contemplat ing the deeds
of Hyde, Jekyll was once again transformed into Edward Hyde. Realizing that he could not
return to his house, he sent the letter to Dr. Lanyon and Mr. Poole and went immediately to
a hotel. He went home once again but every time he would fall asleep, he would revert to
Mr. Hyde. Soon, his potions began to fail to work and he ran out of the salt needed for the
potion. Hyde launches a desperate search across London for this potion, but was
unsuccessful. In the end, Hyde kills himself and therefo re lets both Jekyll and Hyde free.

Character
Characters are the descriptions given to people in the story by the author. There are main
characters and minor characters. Each character plays its own role in creating the plot of the
story. Some characters are more important than others. In this story the two main
characters are:
DrHenryJekyll / EdwardHyde
Doubles title character is a doctor who has covered a secret life full of violent acts.
She felt as if he continues to struggle within himself between what is good and what
is evil, and keep those dear to him. After drinking his own potion creation, Jekyll
transformed into, smaller young, ruthless, cruel, e vil Edward Hyde, who represented
the hidden nature of Dr Jekyll's brought to the fore. Dr. Jekyll has many friends andhave a friendly personality, but as Mr. Hyde, it is a mystery, violence, and secrets.
Over time, Mr. Hyde grows in power. After taking the mixture is repetitive, she does
not rely on it to release the inner demons of his alter ego. Finally, Mr. Hyde grows so
strong that Dr Jekyll to rely on potions to keep his own.
Stevenson says that Hyde never take pleasure in the night forays, saying generally
that it is something that is evil and full of passion, therefore it is in the context of the
times, morally repugnant to the religion of Victoria. Hyde could only have been
reveling in activities inconsistent with the stature Jekyll, as involved in prostitution or
robbery, or maybe just a stroll in London's dark all night and sleep during the day.
However, Hyde terrorism that appears to give the sensation of the most, prompting
him to attack and kill Sir Danvers Carew without reason, makes it a criminal hunted
throughout the UK. Realizing he would be forever Hyde, Jekyll leaving a will,
indicates that while Jekyll often feel like a cheater, Hyde feels like in "native" is much
younger and more energetic than the more "friendly" to its own. He also said that
despite the latest admission Hyde know people shy away from him, he does not
care.
Dr.HastieLanyon
A friend of Jekyll's ex, Hastie Lanyon did not agree with the 'scientific' concepts thathis Lanyon describes as' ... too weird '. He was the first person to whom it disclosed
the identity of Hyde (Hyde back to Jekyll transforms himself in front of the Lanyon's).
Dr Lanyon Utterson help solve this case, when he describes the letter given to him by
Jekyll. When Lanyon witness the transformation process, (and then listen to a
personal recognition of Jekyll, makes his own), Lanyon become critical and then died
of shock. As the embodiment of Victorian rationalism, materialism, and skepticism,
Lanyon serves as a foil to Jekyll.

Mr. GabrielJohn Utterson
Gabriel John Utterson, a lawyer and loyal friend of Jekyll (and Lanyon's), the narrator
focuses on the characters, and follow in its efforts to find the identity of Hyde.
Utterson is described as a measure, and every moment of emotion, scholars - who
seem to remain credible, reliable, tolerant of the mistakes of others, and really fun. However, Utterson, like other characters, is the hypocrites, for while he was quick to
investigate and assess the mistakes of others, Stevenson use it with old secrets. "He
lowered the dust with a lot of things that have hurt him to do"
Poole
Poole is the head of Dr Jekyll server that, after considering reclusiveness and change
master, went to Mr Utterson in fear that his master was killed and the killer, Mr
Hyde, who was in the room. Jekyll Poole served faithfully, and efforts to do a goodjob and loyal to his master. But eventually drives him to join the event with Utterson
to find the truth.
RichardEnfield
Richard Enfield is the nephew of Mr. Utterson, and associate to the inquiry. She is
the one that says the lawyer's personality is actually heir to Jekyll, Mr. Hyde. Enfield
saw Hyde walked on a little girl in the street at random, and she, with her parents
and other residents, forcing Hyde to write a check for her family. Enfield found that
the check was signed by Dr Jekyll. These checks found the original. She said Hyde
disgusting to see, but find yourself confused when asked to describe the person.
Maybe Hyde personality and attitude that distinguishes him from fellow humans,
making it impossible for them to identify with the characters.
InspectorNewcomen
It invited the Scotland Yard inspector Mr Utterson, Sir Danvers Carew after the
murder. They explore the loft in Soho and Hyde look for evidence of the depraved
life.
Sir DanversCarew
An old man's essential nature and Member of Parliament. He was killed on the
streets of London by Mr. Hyde in the killing rage. He was 70 years old.
