The perfect fit – design, build and install complete systemsThe perfect fit – design, build and install complete systems
Significant advantages include:
• standard sizes – easy to install (worldwidestandards and variable pipe length capability)
• a complete range with multiple stocklocations ensuring wide availability and rapiddelivery - particularly important for emergencyneeds
• long life - strong oxides, gases, alkalinesolutions, almost all acids and otherchemicals cannot permeate the hard glassylayer
• corrosion resistance from the inside – thelining covers all interior surfaces and extendsover flange faces to cover gasket sealingareas
• competitive cost – extended life can reduceoverall piping costs making glassed steel themost cost effective solution
• glass will not peel away or soften at highoperating temperatures
• cleaning is easy – often by in-place methods
• can be used for vacuum and pressure ratedservice
PFAUDLER-BALFOUR, a worldwide leader in themanufacture of glassed steel vessels, agitators andevaporators, can design, build and install completesystems based on its standard range of glassedsteel pipework and components.
The company’s extensive range of pipes and fittingsoffer ‘total engineerability’ in system design.
Fully interchangable, these components can bemixed and matched to meet almost any requirementwhile offering the many benefits of glassed steeltechnology.

The complete range – pipe lengths
Glassed steel – ideal for the most demanding conditions
BECAUSE of the benefits of glassed steel,Pfaudler-Balfour pipes and fittings are ideal fordeveloping installations to deal with the mostsensitive products over a wide range of applications.
These include:
• ultrapure products – including those used inelectronic clean room operations
Pipe lengths
• standard sizes range from 25mm to 250mmin diameter with dimensions according toDIN 2873-larger sizes of 300mm and overare produced to Pfaudler standards
• high voltage tested
• design pressures up to 40 bars (see table below)
• design temperature -29o to +200oC
• non-standard lengths available on custombasis

Pipes and flanges for higher pressures available on request.
• metal sensitive products like many chemicalsand pharmaceuticals – no steel is exposed toprocess materials
• products which require their colour, flavourand aroma to be preserved
• viscous or sticky substances – minimum ofadherence and build up is achieved becausethe glassed steel surface is fire polished andexceptionally smooth
Gaskets
A range of standard parallel and special adjustable taper PTFE envelope gasketsare available, and are suitable for running and adjusting glass steel pipework.
Fittings
• pressures = see pipe lengths
• dimensions according toDIN 2873
• all pipework is suppliedwith split flanges asstandard connectors
• connection flangesdrilled ANSI Class 150
• optional flange drillingsto give higher pressure
• rotating split flangesassists in bolting to tightand hard to reachlocations
• for fittings not shown, egreducing tees, crosses, fittings 300mm diameterand over contactPfaudler
