● ONE FORM for all units
The last step before the Oct 1 “live”
recharter is to perform an inventory of
your units.
At this point you can fill out
your optional membership
inventory worksheet if
desired. This serves to help
make sure you have the
required positions filled when
you begin rechartering
1. Obtain a roster from your internet advancement site for
your Cub Scout Unit and one for your Troop, Venture and
Varsity units
1. Obtain an MLS report from your ward clerk for all boys
ages 8-10 as of 1/1/18 and all boys ages 11-17 as of 1/1/18
The Bishop need to sign the MLS reports to attest that they
are accurate
Detailed instructions for your ward clerk can be
found at:
https://www.saltlakescouts.org/files/15447/2018-Appendices-pdf
Instructions will also be found in your recharter packet
● Note any youth in your inventory that need to be added to your units
and any youth that need to be removed from your units
○ All youth ages 14-17 have already been moved over to the
troop automatically
○ Venture and Varsity adults will NOT automatically be moved
over and will require promotion into the troop or a new
application to continue with the troop
○ When in doubt, register the boy. The church has already
agreed to pay fees for ALL boys through 2018, so you’re not
saving the Ward, Troop or Church any money by not registering
a youth member
● You WILL have to enter the youth information in the online recharter
system, but you WILL NOT have to complete a youth application as
long as they are listed on the MLS report. A first time youth
applicant is the exception and will need a new youth application.
● Note any Adult leaders that need to be added to your unit and any that are
not participating adult leaders at this point
● Adult that are no longer leaders are easily removed later during the recharter
process
● Adults that do not show up on your unit inventories must be promoted into the
unit from another one of your units or complete an online registration
https://d16commish.wordpress.com/registration-links/ and
complete youth protection training. https://my.scouting.org/
● The unit “key 3” must fill out a paper form and include a photocopy of their
completed youth protection (COR, Committee Chair and Unit Leader)
● Disclosure Form
● 1 signature
● Application
● 3 signatures
● SSN required
● Answer questions
● Don’t forget a copy of
Youth Protection
● Keep a copy on file
Now that you have all of your info, other
forms filled out, and it is Oct 1, you can
start the online recharter system
Do not Start the Venture or
Varsity recharters! The logins and password have been crossed out and do not
need to be accessed at all. The Council will delete these
units in January.

Or follow the instructions on the yellow log-in paper
The actual recharter will look slightly different than the
slides that follow due to 2018 updates, but the steps will
remain the same

The webelos
must be identified

a common error
in rechartering,
but an easy one
to fix at this stage
Every dropped

reason attached
to the change
One new function in 2018 will be the electronic
signature immediately before the final step.
Before final submittal of the unit renewal, the
renewal processor will give the chartered
organization representative (or institutional head)
the opportunity to review and approve the renewal
on behalf of the chartered organization. If this is
done, the approval will appear on the Unit Renewal
Application and the recharter will not need a
physical signature.
If you would like

information
before
submission,
select
review/print.
If you are done,
