Completing the Kognito Trauma & Grief Informed Training (Safe Schools)

1. Follow the directions attached for Kognito to create an account and to

complete the training. Once you have selected the appropriate grade level and completed all of the training modules, you will be asked to take a survey and then can print your certificate.

2. The next step is to finish the process in SafeSchools. Check your browser --

sometimes the Safe Schools link will already be displayed. Otherwise, once you log back into Safe Schools and select the training again, you will notice that the blue "Next" button at the bottom of the page is now activated (see highlighted below). Click on the "Next" button to advance.

3. You should see the screen below. IMPORTANT: You MUST check the box to

acknowledge you have completed your training (see highlighted) BEFORE you click on the "Finish" button in the upper right hand corner.

4. Once you have followed those steps, you should receive notice that both sections are completed. You’re done!

Trauma Informed Modules

Schools serve as a critical system of support forchildren and adolescents who have experiencedtrauma.

Schools can create trauma-informed environmentsthat mitigate against the impacts of trauma and grief.

Administrators, teachers, and school staff can helpreduce the effects of trauma and grief on children byrecognizing trauma responses, accommodating andresponding to traumatized students within theclassroom, and referring students to mental healthprofessionals when necessary.

Open a browser on your device and go to

Create an account. If you have taken a Kognito training before, you do not need to create a new account,

please advance to the “Returning Educators and Staff” slide.

Enter your name, district email, and the enrollment key mhahouston34.

Review the User Agreement & Privacy Policy

Check each to agree to each

Click Next Step

Start typing your campus or department then choose from the drop down menu

Departments/Campuses are listed with “- Conroe ISD” at the end

i.e.

Finance – Conroe ISD

Transportation - Conroe ISD

Wilkinson Elem – Conroe ISD

Clark Intermediate – Conroe ISD

Irons JHS – Conroe ISD

The Woodlands College Park HS – Conroe ISD

Select your role from the drop down menu

Select the number of years you have been working at your school/departmentfrom the drop down menu

Click “Next”

Select Your Age (Optional)

Select Your Gender

Select if you are Hispanic or Latino?

Click “Next”

Select your Race (Check All That Apply)

Your Kognito Account is now created

Please advance to the “ACCESSING TRAINING MODULES” slide of this document.

The next slide is for Educators who already have a Kognito account prior to this training.

Open a browser on your device and go to

www.kognitocampus.com

Log in to your account using the email address and password you created previously.

You can reset your password if you do not remember it.

After logging in click on your name in the upper rightcorner. In the pop-up box enter the enrollment keymhahouston34.

Launch the training that is most appropriate for the grade level of children you serve.

At-Risk for Elementary School Enhanced (Includes Trauma Informed Module)

At-Risk for Middle School Enhanced (Includes Trauma Informed Module)

(Grades 5-8)

At-Risk for High School Educators Enhanced (Includes Trauma Informed Module)

If you do not come into direct contact with children in your position, please select the grade level module that would most benefit you personally.

If you would like to take more than one of the modules, you are welcome to do so.

You MUST complete at least one of the grade level modules.

Upon completion of this training module, please acknowledge your completion of this course in your Safe Schools profile of the Trauma & Grief Informed Practices course.

If you have your certificate, you DO NOT need to re-take the course!

It is much like acknowledging you read the CISD handbook. Once you open the page to start the process it takes a couple minutes due to the timer in the system. Make sure to click “Finish”

If this does not work, I recommend trying another browser. I know it does not work well for those completing courses on an IPad/mobile device.

Click the link to open/re-open the Kognito website page.

Go back to the SafeSchools’ screen below and the “NEXT” box will now allow you to move forward and acknowledge.

Click the small box to acknowledge that you have completed the Trauma & Grief Informed Practices Training via Kognito.

Click “FINISH” in upper right hand corner.

You are finished and the course will reflect complete in your SafeSchoolsTraining Plan!
