ABSTRACTION

ABSTRACTION is a process by which higher concepts are derived from the usage and classification of literal concepts, first principles, or oth-er methods. AN ABSTRACTION is the product of this process. ABSTRACTIONS may be formed by reducing the information content of a concept or an observable phenomenon, typically to retain only information which is relevant for a particular purpose.

It is an elementary tool in life and thinking in abstractions is consid-ered to be one of the key traits in modern human behaviour, which is believed to have developed between 50,000 and 100,000 years ago.

FIELD

Synthesis_Design Strategy_Design Process

ABSTRACTION

The analysis of the existing is a requirement for the own work. Analysis means resolving into elements and similar phenomena seen and understood. Analysis means abstraction.

Analysis is not an end in itself, it explains what has been understood. The application of the analysed is the second step and verifies the result.

OBJECTIVE

Break down COMPLEX[c]ITY into something perceptible|tangible.

Using the process of simplification.

Translation of reality into layers.

Focus on layers beyond reality.

Abstraction as a language of understanding|interpretation.

A tool box.

A tool box as a basis for a design method in Tel Aviv -Jaffa.

OBJECTIVE

Use the tool box for a design strategy at the Dolphinarium.

Show its cultural significance.

Underline the coastal exception.

Using Informality as a function.

Strengthen its uniqueness.

Using its upcoming demolition.

Topic of section.

Make it accessible + integrate it into public space.
