E-learning✦Use of ICT in learning process in order to raise the quality and to better obtain learning outcomes,

✦usually blended learning✦E-learning 2.0: based on web 2.0 tools – knowledge is constructed socially

✦learning takes place through conversations about content and grounded interaction about problems and actions

How to design an e-course✦Start from choosing instructional design model (there are plenty of them)

✦We use ADDIE model:✦Analyze: conditions, learning needs, target group,

context✦Design: defining learning objectives, choosing media

and tools, making structure of the course and topics, creating course program

✦Develop: materials, study guide, ready course✦Implement: running the e-course with real students✦Evaluate: evaluation takes place during all steps of the

model, but also important after completing the course to obtain the general feedback

Instructional design in e-learning

✦It is important to follow general instructional and learning objectives

✦E-learning tools tools should: ✦support active learning✦enable flexible learning✦support the emergence of learning communities✦enable students to choose suitable time, place and speed of learning

✦take into account students’ different previous experience, knowledge and learning styles

E-tools also should:✦if possible consider students with special needs (disabilities);

✦take into account different cultural background of students when compiling learning materials;

✦enable students to give feedback to the course’ content and requirements;

✦increase interaction of the course and provide better feedback to students on their learning progress;

✦complement or add value to traditional classroom learning process

Results of Analyze phase✦Course corresponds to the needs and possibilities of target group (learners);

✦Course has objectives and clearly defined learning outcomes;

✦Usage of e-tools gives an additional value to the course and is reasonable;

✦The content of the course corresponds to learning outcomes and takes into account e-learning context.

The Design phase✦The design of learning process✦The outcome is complete course program, that contains timetable or schedule, assessment strategy and -methods

✦Also choosing the technological tools ✦Example: http://www.e-ope.ee/_download/euni_repository/file/2105/Course%20Program.pdf

The Evaluation phase✦The evaluation is very important for improving the course and achieving better quality

✦It should be done during the whole ADDIE cycle✦Evaluation methods: ✦Documentation (in every phase)✦Collecting feedback from students (questionnaries at the end of the course); example

✦External evaluation (experts, colleagues)
