This course will include instruction from various leaders within the composting industry including the following: Mateo Ocejo; P.Eng founded Net Zero Waste Inc in 2006 and prior to that spent 10 years working in the environmental industry, most recently with AECOM (formerly known as Earth Tech Canada). During that time, Mateo has provided a wide range of clients with guidance and support with the design and implementation of cost effective environmentally sustainable and publicly accepted diversion strategies. A specific focus has been placed on compost program structure and in-vessel facility design. Net Zero Waste shares in the ownership of four operating, registered and fully compliant facilities within BC.

Dr. Geoff Hill has been active in the waste, energy, and recycling space for over a decade as an entrepreneur, service provider, technology vendor, and consultant. He has completed three degrees at the University of British Columbia; a BSc in Environmental Science, an MSc in plant ecology and soil science, and a PhD in composting and pathogen destruction. He consulted to public agencies during his PhD on remote site waste treatment systems. Shortly after the completion of his PhD he was hired by Harvest Power to address odour issues at the 200,000 ton per year composting facility in Richmond, B.C. where he worked as the General Manager. The Harvest facility sells over 200,000 yards of compost, soils blends, and bagged products each year to self-haul gardeners, landscapers, retailers, organic farms, and bulk supply yards.
