With the highly successful PC60 and PC52 as the base line, we focused on designing an exquisite power catamaran, with thegoal to be known and referred to as The Ultimate Cruising Yacht. Defining what this encompassed, included a complex set ofcriteria, and ultimately, we set about redefining luxury and comfort.

All the key elements were carefully identified, with an extensive Must Have list that formed the basis of the design and a WishList that further refined the parameters and stretched the design limits.

Note that the sea keeping, structural integrity and safety remain the backbone of all our design s, particularly on our new andlarger PC74. The PC74 is truly a magnificent Luxury Cruising yacht, and a very desirable Crewed Charter yacht.

The PC74 concept, design and development wasresult of the collaborative partnership betweenHorizon Yachts, renowned designer JC Espinosa,naval architect and catamaran specialist,Lavranos Marine Design, Stuart Hegerstrom andRichard Ford of The Powercat Company.

Countless hours of R&D, design development and brainstorming werespent perfecting the finer details for the new Horizon PC74. She is poisedto bring improved functionality and comfort, in a spacious and luxuriouslyoutfitted package rarely seen in the power catamaran market.

The twin-hulls offer exceptional stability, low resistance and drag, and a soft smooth level ride, resulting in unmatched comfort for everyone aboard.

Hull Design

CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools assist us in predicting thehydrodynamic performance of these often-unconventional hull forms,including resistance and powering. The design analysis of the PC74was performed using the hydrodynamic design suite Flow CFD ,which is a thoroughly validated RANS code, specifically developedfor surface problems.

The development team determined, by optimizing the design, thatthe wavelength is long enough and the diverging wave wedge anglesharp enough, that the two bow wave crests interfere near the aftpart of the hull and thus helps with lift and the aft hull pressurerecovery.

PC74 development & construction.

Horizon PC74 hull tooling began mid 2016. The yacht will make her debut in the USA at the end of 2017.
