S trictly Compton Dancing
Dance Club members set the pace at
Big Band Bash
Members of the Wells Lindy
Hop Dance Club joined residents to listen
and dance to the music of The Wessex Big
Band on 22nd of September. The bar did
good business and proceeds will go
towards the new kitchen fund. The 22
strong band (one of whom is a resident of
Compton) provided a full programme of
swing music, mainly from the 40s and 50s.
According to the Lindy Hoppers we have an excellent floor for
dancing and they certainly put it to good use! They are keen to
come again—in force— so if you like dancing and missed this
one — keep an eye out for the next one!

Potholes and now more Potholes………
The reporting email on the County Council’s website doesn’t seem to work but there’s a very
nice man at the Somerset area office, Acting Assistant Highway Service Manager, John
Nicholson, email: [email protected] who is doing his best to sort out
the broken drain going up the hill from Ham Lane towards the Church. He says the work is
scheduled in and the potholes should be fixed soon. You may like to add your comments to his
inbox! And report any other highway holes/flooding/drainage problems in the Village.
Keep your entries coming in for the next newsletter - by 24th October please—if you’ve got
the words I’ve got the space! ‘The Compiler’
