    finish coatings used toprotect the concrete.

    Sealers act to preventdamage from traffic,water and chemicalagents.

    Sealers reduce theporosity of concrete andprevent water and dirtfrom getting into theconcrete.

    Types of Sealers: Film Formers:

    creat a barrier on the concretes surface.

    used for : enhancing exposed aggregate

    colored concrete since they are shiny.

    -These sealers penetrate into theconcrete.

    -They get 1 to 4 millimeters into

    the concrete to increase waterrepellency.

    - coat the floor for 10 to 15 minutes .

    Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP): For years, civil engineers have

    been in search for alternativesto steels and alloys to combatthe high costs of repair andmaintenance of structures

    damaged by corrosion andheavy use.

    Fiber Reinforced Polymer(FRP) is a relatively new classof composite material

    manufactured from fibers andresins (and has provenefficient and economical for thedevelopment and repair of newand deteriorating structures incivil engineering.

    Lack of design standards and conventions for

    material characterization

    Limited FRP experience within the construction industry.

    FRP's low modulus of elasticity leads to a deflectiondriven design which does not allow a designer to fullycapitalize on the FRP's strength
