Why SAP Concur?CAG constantly challenges itself to improve processes through innovative technologies. As part of this strategy, the company wanted to improve expense management efficiency and move away from a proprietary system that required staff to submit paper-based claim forms along with expense receipts and created a large archive of paper-based expense claims to manage.

ABOUT CHANGI AIRPORT GROUP (CAG)CAG operates Singapore Changi Airport, one of the world’s leading airports, which serves more than 100 airlines flying to some 380 cities in about 100 countries. Around 7,400 flights land or depart from Changi Airport each week, with more than 65.6 million passengers passing through the airport in 2018.

“SAP Concur aligns expense claims management at Changi Airport Group with the organization’s wider goal to improve processes using innovative technologies.”Director, Enterprise Performance, CAG

Anytime, Anywhere Expense Management

CAG employees submit expense claims for business-related expenses. Traditionally, staff had to complete expense-claim forms, as well as submit receipts as part of the documentation. The system generated a lot of paperwork, which the finance department had to process and retain in an expenses archive. As part of CAG’s constant drive to improve processes, the organization identified expense management as an area for improvement. CAG selected SAP® Concur® because of its flexibility in enabling employees to submit expense claims through their smartphone app from anywhere with Internet connectivity. Using a combination of SAP Concur solutions, including Concur® Expense, Intelligence, CAG has increased the efficiency of expense management and eliminated the need for a paper-based archive.

CAG operates Singapore Changi Airport, one of the world’s leading airports. As the organization managing the airport, CAG is also responsible for the airport operations and management, air hub development, commercial activities, and airport emergency services. CAG also manages Seletar Airport and through its subsidiary Changi Airports International, invests in and manages foreign airports.

CAG staff submit claims for business-related expenses, such as transport claims. The proprietary system used for expense claim management required staff to submit paper-based claim forms along with expense receipts. The claims process was time-consuming, and personnel in the finance department had to maintain an archive of the submitted claims.

CAG looked to improve expense claims management as part of a widespread drive to enhance processes through innovative technologies. The company selected SAP Concur to increase the flexibility of its claims processes—enabling employees to submit claims through their smartphone app from anywhere connected to the Internet. Processes would be more efficient, and CAG staff would no longer need to handle paper documents or maintain an archive.

To streamline the implementation of SAP Concur, CAG worked with SAP Concur consultants onsite to discuss system design and support user acceptance testing. With constant access to SAP Concur via their smartphone apps, employees can upload images of expense receipts and complete web-based expense claims on the go and no longer have to manage paper documents. In addition, the CAG IT team avoids having to manage software updates or refresh hardware like it used to with the on-premise solution.
