Manufacturers, especially in times of increasing energy costs, need to respond to global competition and manufacturing sourcing. Therefore, manufacturers need to look for lean manufacturing solutions based on justifications to reduce cost, elimi-nate risks, improve system design and help manage maintenance to maximise reliable production. Condition Monitoring on the shop floor together with Energy Monitor-ing should therefore be integrated with the Enterprise system.

To optimise maintenance service there must be complete transparency throughout the enterprise, from shop floor to top floor.

Mitsubishi Electric offers this capabil-ity through its integrated solution – the OEE Control Pack (OEECP) and the Energy Control Pack (ECP). Both solutions collect live data from all measurement points for analysis by multiple levels of management systems. This enables real time control to obtain maintenance data and create signifi-cant energy savings, via transparent moni-toring, which allows full analysis to make the right decisions.

Standard MonitoringStandard monitoring concepts often focus on only classic machine and process param-eters such as temperature, pressure or hours of operation.

Advanced ApproachFAG SmartCheck is an independently oper-ating, compact, modular measurement system for the permanent monitoring of machines. As the device can monitor both classic parameters and vibration-based parameters, it already offers numerous options that future machine monitoring schemes cannot be imagined without. This will lead to optimised value added in all sectors.

FAG SmartCheck supports the concept of transparency through different levels of measurement. Mitsubishi Electric, in con-junction with Schaeffler, can provide a holistic approach to assess the condition of the plant. Information can be automati-cally transferred through Ethernet via the iQ Platform to multiple information levels.
