Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, an Institution Declared as Deemed to be University, under section 3 of UGC Act

1956, is engaged for more than a decade in spreading professional higher education. The Vidyapeeth has

Seven Constituent institutes imparting knowledge in the field of Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy,

Nursing, Healthcare Management and Paramedical Sciences. It is the First Deemed University of Gujarat

state, which was started in year 2007. The Vidyapeeth is accredited by National Assessment and

Accreditation Council (NAAC) with the CGPA of 3.53 on a Four point scale at “A” grade, in the year

2015. Recently the university has been Categorized as Category-I Deemed to be University under UGC

Regulation 2018. Presently, the Vidyapeeth conducts Professional, Career Oriented, Innovative and

Interdisciplinary programs in the field of Health Sciences.

Quality assurance is a continuous process in higher education, which facilitates quality promotion,

sustenance and enhancement in imparting, learning and assessment. The quality enhancement in the

institute develops a system of conscious consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of

stakeholders especially through the Conferences, Symposiums and Continuing Educational Programmes

related to quality enhancement in Higher education. Such types of activities will enhance the high

standards and will promote quality parameters. The infrastructural facilities will also contribute in

improvement of learning and evaluation of end user. Periodic interventions and restructuring of facilities

towards quality practices in general education especially in Health education will add in improving the

standards and goals for achievement.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, in Collaboration with National

Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, had organized a magnificent event-

National Conference on Teaching, Learning and Evaluation: Emerging Challenges and

Opportunities, on 22nd

and 23rd

January 2019, at Vadodara, the cultural city of Gujarat state.

The organizing committee had scheduled an exhilarating Scientific program that included Plenary and

Thematic Sessions, Workshops and E-Poster Presentation. Highlights of the event were

Distinguished and Eminent Speakers and Workshop Faculty from all over the country.

Objectives:

1) The National Conference had benchmark outcomes in quality enhancement in higher education through

facilitation of High standards in Quality learning and Evaluation/ Assessment which will help in periodic

assessment and insight performance at regular intervals for end users.

2) The participants learnt about different modes of evaluation process in higher education and role of

Information and communication Technology in learning and assessment.

Inaugural Function:

The conference was inaugurated by Dr, Rajesh P. Bharaney, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Sumandeep

Vidyapeeth as Chief Guest and Prof. Dr. Vivek A. Saoji, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, KLE University,

Belagavi, Karnataka State as Guest of Honour; (NAAC nominated Faculty). Other Dignitaries on the

Dias were Dr Manoj Sattigeri, Registrar, Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, Dr Chandramani B. More,

Director IQAC, Sumandeep Vidyapeeth and Dr Pratik Kariya as the Organizing Secretary for the

event.

Dr Chandramani More welcomed the dignitaries and delegates to the event. He introduced to all the

significance of the event and its impact that it would have on conclusion. He stressed on the

importance of Teaching, Learning and Evaluation in higher Education, ways of improving it through

such conferences and gave the program details.

Dr Manoj Sattigeri talked about the importance of having the IQAC for sustenance of quality in

teaching, leaning and evaluation in higher education. He talked with much enthusiasm focusing on the

positive outcomes of working as a team towards common goals.

Dr Vivek Saoji addressed the gathering with motivational words and emphasized on the technicalities

of the functioning of NAAC. He appreciated the meticulous organizing of the national conference and

expressed heartfelt gratitude for being invited as the Guest of Honour.

Dr Rajesh P. Bharaney in his speech emphasized on the role of IQAC in quality enhancement of the

university. He acknowledged the efforts of the working committee members and the magnificence of

the event.

Dr Pratik Kariya delivered the Vote of thanks, acknowledging the tireless efforts of the members of

the working committee and the non-teaching faculty for smooth functioning of the event.

The inauguration ceremony was ended with the National Anthem.

Conclusion:

The two days National conference on Teaching, Learning and Evaluation in Higher Education: Emerging

Challenges and Opportunities was successfully conducted. The Conference comprised of a series of 8

Lectures, 5 Workshops and 14 E-Poster Presentations. The total Number of Delegates across the country

were 225 for the conference and 211 for the Workshops. Delegates for the conference comprised of staff

and students from various disciplines of Health Sciences, Engineering, Basic Sciences Commerce, etc.

The delegates were from the diverse areas of the country. The objective of this conference was achieved.

Through the feedbacks from the delegates it is concluded that all the areas were to the satisfactory level.

The knowledge was sufficiently gained by all the delegates in the area of Teaching, learning and

Evaluation. 8
