Configure ACSELERATOR TEAM® and an

SEL-735 to Retrieve and Report Metering Data Chris Hilling

INTRODUCTION This application guide uses an example to describe how to configure ACSELERATOR TEAM

® SEL-5045 Software and an SEL-735 Power Quality and Revenue Meter to poll and report meter data. ACSELERATOR TEAM is a database-driven software that collects and stores load profile (LDP) metering data and voltage sag, swell, and interruption (VSSI) data from compatible SEL meters.

This application guide is used to do the following:

Configure an SEL-735 to communicate and store LDP and VSSI data.

Use ACSELERATOR QuickSet® SEL-5030 Software for meter communications and data polling.

Report LDP and VSSI data using a Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet.

Note that ACSELERATOR TEAM must be installed on the computer prior to using this application guide. Refer to the ACSELERATOR TEAM instruction manual for installation instructions.

OVERVIEW OF REQUIRED SETTINGS Table 1 through Table 6 give example settings used to establish communications between the SEL-735 and the ACSELERATOR TEAM database. These settings are also used as the limits for the VSSI settings group.

CONFIGURE THE SEL-735 Use ACSELERATOR QuickSet with an Ethernet or serial connection to configure the SEL-735 LDP and VSSI settings.

Follow the appropriate steps based on what type of connection to the SEL-735 is available.

Connect Via Ethernet

Step 1

Use an Ethernet cable (not supplied) to connect Port 1 of the SEL-735 to the computer network interface card (NIC).

Step 2

Open ACSELERATOR QuickSet.

Step 6

Click Next to open the Polling Frequency window (see Figure 28).

Step 7

Select an appropriate polling frequency. Click Next. We recommend selecting the longest acceptable polling frequency. This is usually defined by the type of report needed. For instance, use the Monthly polling frequency if the data are only gathered once a month. Doing so optimizes the size of the ACSELERATOR TEAM database on the computer or server.

Create and View a VSSI Data Report

Use a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to collect VSSI data from the meter and create two VSSI reports.

Step 1

Open a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, and click on the Office button. Select New to open the New Workbook window.

Step 2

Select My Templates.

Step 3

Select the TEAM VSSI Excel Template, and click OK.

Step 5

Check the Include Device in VSSI Query and Disable Configuration Form boxes (see Figure 32). Checking the Include Device in VSSI Query ensures that only the selected device for the metering point is shown. Leaving the box unchecked will include all data from all devices assigned to the metering point. Checking the Disable Configuration Form box prevents accidental changes to date selections. The report display is not affected by this setting.
