Sometimes I am sure I am a part-timer! Let me explain. Monday was my day off so I was in Bristol playing golf with a priest friend; Tuesday I was in the office most of the day catching up on paperwork; Wednesday I was in Bristol at a meeting about Wills & Lasting Powers of Attorney; Thursday I was in Bristol again, this time chairing the Diocesan Property Committee in the morning and at the Finance Committee in the afternoon. Guess what? On Friday I was in again Bristol, for a meeting with Bishop Declan. So I am a full-time Priest but sometimes a part-time Parish Priest. Thank goodness for the assistance of Fr David, and my retired brother priests, as this enables me to do what the Bishop needs me to do as I am assisted by them. The reality is, that we are all called in different ways to make our community work; the butcher, the baker and the candle-stick maker. Society only works well when we all do our bit and also make time to assist those who need our help. That is why tomorrow, Monday 2
nd
October, I am going to be at the launch meeting of “Taunton Deane Citizens”. I wish to express at the meeting, that the Catholic Community in Taunton wishes to work with and for the whole community, building a better, fairer town; the inspiration being due to our long Catholic tradition of social justice and action, we will do our bit.
