NJHS SERVES OUR COMMUNITYSPS members of the NJHS and their families

placed flags at St. Paul Cemetery on the gravesof veterans we honor this

Memorial Day.

MANY THANKS TO ALL!This photo from last week generated such a great

response from our Alumni families and currentteachers. Together you identified the group. What

fun to hear the stry of this day!

Mrs. Mary Bell, former SPS Art instructor (pictured) and SPS alumni parent / grandparent shares this

very fun story remembering the day:

" The photo of the nuns was taken during CatholicSchools Week, probably about 1991 or 92. We rented costumes without telling Sister Marie. Aswe had themes for each day, on Tuesday, it wassomething about teachers from the past because Iremember making a poodle skirt for one mydaughters for the 'students of the past' that sameweek.

We came to school about 7am so we could get readyand surprise Sister before any kids arrived. Wedressed downstairs in what was then the 5th gradeclassroom. We filed upstairs, heads down, hands inprayer, surprising giggles.

At that time, Sister was in that tiny room across fromthe office with a window onto the corridor so she wasfacing the corridor when at her desk. We walked byher office silently -- She sensed movement andlooked up to see -- surprise!

We had rented a 'habit' for her as well and she got abig kick out of putting it on, telling us howthe original habits worked. We also had a mother, who had attended one of the first classes at SPSgive us names of Sisters who had taught at SPS andthose names are on the name tags. One of thesisters who had been at SPS was teaching at StJeromes, and she came to visit us and tell us moreabout the old habits.
