Congratulations to the Special Olympics Champions Yellow Basketball Team – State Champions! The Special Olympics Basketball Team Champions Yellow placed first in Division 7 at the Special Olympics State Tournament held April 8-9 at UW-Oshkosh. The Champions Yellow defeated the Ozaukee City Hawks with a score of 19-17 and in the championship game were victorious over the Waunakee Warriors 40-34. Over 600 Special Olympics athletes participated in the 41st annual tournament in 14 divisions. Congratulations to the Special Olympics Champions Yellow Basketball Team – State Champions!

The Special Olympics Basketball Team Champions Yellow placed first in Division 7 at the Special

Olympics State Tournament held April 8-9 at UW-Oshkosh. The Champions Yellow defeated the

Ozaukee City Hawks with a score of 19-17 and in the championship game were victorious over the

Waunakee Warriors 40-34. Over 600 Special Olympics athletes participated in the 41st annual

tournament in 14 divisions.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mark Johnson; Memorial Math Teacher,

Head Girls Cross Country Coach, and Head Girls Track Coach.

The NFHS (National Federation of High Schools) Coaches Association informed Athletic Director,

Kevin Thompson, that Memorial High School Girls Cross Country Coach, Mark (MoJo) Johnson,

has been named the State Coach of the Year! WOW!! Quite the accomplishment, MoJo! Thank

you for all the time, energy, expectations, and talent you shower on our kids each day.

Congratulations to Othayun Smith took his Waterford Opponent to the mat and pinned

him in 1:06 at the 2017 State Wrestling Meet! He did a nice job representing Eau Claire

Memorial by earning 5th Place in the 195 lb weight class.

Congratulations to the Old Abe Hockey Team who made their 8th straight appearance in the State Hockey Tournament! The team lost to eventual state champion Hudson in the quarter-finals. The Abes finished another successful season with a record of 19-8-1.

Congratulations to the Eau Claire Memorial Cheer & Stunt team who executed a strong

routine at the State Competition on Saturday, February 25th in Madison. The team placed

3rd in the Coed Division and 2nd in Partner Stunt (athletes: Kaden Berg, Abby Oeffler,

Sarah Rowe).

Congratulations to the Eau Claire Memorial / North Swim and Dive Team who finished the

season in 3rd place in record making fashion at the state meet!

We had 8 top 6 finishes with 4 of those being first place.

Ben Redman was a 4-time place finisher at the state meet placing 4th in the 50 Free and 3rd in

the 100 Free. He was also part of the 2 winning relays.

Paul DeLakis went 4 for 4 with wins at the state meet. He won the 200 IM breaking the state

meet and university pool record. In breaststroke he also won the event breaking the state

record held by his older brother Alex. Paul was also part of the 2 winning relays.

We also had a first time by any Eau Claire school at the meet by winning a relay. Ben Redman,

Sam Chumas, Charlie Hower & Paul DeLakis won the 200 Free Relay. Then Ben Redman, Andrew

Vierbicher, Sam Chumas & Paul DeLakis repeat that same feat in winning the 400 Free Relay.

Congratulations to the Varsity Dance Team for their successful season with several

trophies and ending with 2nd place in hip-hop and 3rd in jazz at Wisconsin Regionals,

which also resulted in qualifying for Wisconsin State! Katie Rhoten and Claire Chapin

received the ALL-State solo dancer awards at State. Head coach Nadine Smith credits

these achievements to dedication, passion, and teamwork. Great Season Ladies, Eau

Claire Memorial Athletics is proud of your performances and results!

Congratulations to the EC Memorial Cheer&Stunt team for their success at the

WoW Factor Invitational in Minnesota. The team placed 1st in Coed High School,

1st in Partner Stunt (Kaden Berg, Abby Oeffler, Sarah Rowe), 1st and 2nd in small

group stunt (Small group 1st place: Kira Shiffer, Sarah Rowe, Kaden Berg, Abby

Oeffler) (Small group 2nd: Maddison Moldenhauer, Angelica Chamberlin, Kate

Congratulations Lexi Meade! Sophomore Lexi Meade shot a 77 at the Sectional Golf Tournament at Wild Ridge

Golf Course on Monday, October 3, 2016. She finished in second place and

qualified for the state golf tournament as an individual.
