This year we will be making Thanksgiving baskets for our Tiger Pack kids and other families in our community. These are goody boxes to go home with families over the Thanksgiving break. Please begin shopping now for these items. In November we are turning our east foyer into a
drop off area. We also will have a generous bucket for folks who want to bring money and change that will be turned
in to bread, hamburger meat, bananas, and milk.
Place your donations in the appropriate container in the east foyer in November.

Psalms in Worship The Psalms have been central to the Jews’ worship of God for centuries, providing the inspiration for their prayer patterns. These prayer patterns, in turn, were used by the early Christian church. The Psalms have continued to influence Christian worship throughout the centuries in the form of congregational singing. In the sixth century, when Benedict set up a monastic order, he instructed the monks to chant all 150 psalms each week. A thousand years later, Martin Luther established a church hymnal in the language of the people. He wrote a number of hymns himself, the most famous being "Ein’ feste Burg ist unser Gott" ("A Mighty Fortress Is Our God"), which is based on Psalm 46. And Psalm 23, in its numerous arrangements, remains a long-lasting favorite in many denominations. Paul’s encouragement to the New Testament church, Let the word
of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God (Colossians 3:16), is as important today as ever. Singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs helps unify the congregation in an inspirational endeavor that draws us closer together as the Body of Christ.
Find a place to serve! We have many ministry opportunities available. Take some time to pray about where God can use you to help people in
changing, connecting and caring at Community. Contact Connie Cravens - she would love to help
you discover your piece in the 3C puzzle.

Community Chris-tian Church, Bethel

It’s a month away, but we have arranged to hold our morning worship at Bethel-Tate High School on Sunday, December 13, @ 10:30am. Yes, it will be different - but it will be the usual list of people you know leading us in this one worship. Come early, sit with friends, sit with your c-group or your family, but between now and then pray about bringing someone with you who has no church home. This is the Sunday we have traditionally held just 2 services here on our campus but we thought this would give us a bigger stage for Neon Kids. It also allows us to have an all church dinner in our Worship Center at 12:30pm here in the For an undertaking of this size we will need your help in bringing food. We will also need several families
to cook turkeys and hams ahead of time. Check our bulletin and newsletter for specific details but I wanted to give you a heads up regarding this upcoming event.
We have two special meetings set up for the congregation to hear the results of the survey conducted by the Sams Group which will be led by our elders and staff. The first is set for Sunday, November 15, 3pm, and the second is the following Satur-day, November 22, 10am. We set those days on two separate weekends hoping if you couldn’t make one you could catch the other meeting. As you might guess, it’s the same information at both meetings and will take about an hour, depending on your questions.
The annual church operating budget hopefully will be approved by our active members on Sunday, November 8, following each of the worship services.
There is a new group forming for men, Iron Sharpens Iron. We will meet December 28 at 7:30pm to watch the Cincy Bengals crush the Denver Broncos. Meet in the Student Center and bring your favorite football snacks to share with some other guys. Wear your jersey and come early to eat, as well as play some Euchre. If you have questions ask Dan, Kyle, Steve Guenther, Scott Wedemeyer or John Fultz. Our study on the gospel of Mark kicks off January 5 in Rm 209 (read the first chapter before you come and you will be good to go). January 19 we will meet for dinner and continue our study.
Thanks,
dan
