‘MAD MAX’ MEETS ‘VOGUE’ AT IMATS SYDNEY

The 2015 International Make-Up Artist Trade Show Sydney is your destination for tips, techniques and eye-popping live demos from the best make-up artists working in film, fashion, TV and theater. This sixth installment of IMATS Sydney will be held Nov. 14-15 at the Royal Hall of Industries, Moore Park.

Weta Workshop Creative Art Director Gino Acevedo—whose credits include The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit series, Ava-tar and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire—will discuss the relation-ship between digital and practical make-up effects in his keynote talk.

New York-based beauty artist Roshar will be the IMATS beauty keynote speaker; his work has appeared in Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour, among others. His clients include L’Oréal, Modelrock Lashes and Make Up For Ever.

Mike Hill—an award-winning sculptor with credits includ-ing The Wolfman, Men in Black 3 and American Horror Story—is also slated as a keynote speaker. Hill is known for his realistic sili-cone sculptures and portraits, which are sought by collectors such as Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson.

Additional speakers include Mad Max: Fury Road artists Da-

mian Martin and Adam Johansen, cofounders of Odd Studio, plus L’Oréal Paris Australia make-up director Rae Morris, whose credits include Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Marie Claire, and more than 100 fashion shows.

IMATS Sydney is also an excellent place to shop: some of the best international make-up brands will show and sell the latest products. Make-up pieces from film and television will be dis-played in the IMATS Make-up Museum.

And in the Battle of the Brushes student make-up competi-tions, students will race against the clock to create winning looks and take home trophies, cash and prizes. The beauty category is themed Historical Beauty Trends, while the character category is themed Age Make-up Challenge.

In addition to the Sydney show, IMATS is held in Los Angeles; New York; London; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Toronto. All events are produced by Make-Up Artist magazine, a division of Key Publishing Group. Read in nearly 70 countries, the magazine was created in 1996 by Emmy Award-winning make-up artist Mi-chael Key.
