Book ClubThe Coverley Book Club is a new activity which we are planning to incorporate into our monthly events as we continue to enhance and increase activities for our residents. We are sure that many of you love reading and have a passion for books! A Book Club will also encourage reading and therefore promote literacy, whilst building relationships with persons who have similar interests. Some ideas for this Club are as follows: Create a book exchange library whereby books can be shared by with each other.A specific novel could be chosen and when several members have read the book, a group meeting could be held to discuss, dissect and share the meaning or impact which said novel may have had on the readers. We look forward to your feedback on the Book Club and are also open to suggestions of a proposed day and time to hold these monthly gatherings. If you have any other suggestions or are interested in getting involved in the Book Club, please contact Tracia Mascoll at 627-4229 or email [email protected]

Mathematics ClubHaving difficulties with Mathematics? Are you preparing to take the CXC Examination? Do you need a little help understanding the concepts? Come over to the Hibiscus Room every Saturday Morning from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., where Douglas Doeman is hosting the Mathematics Club! For further information, email him [email protected]

Chess ClubEvery second and last Saturday of the month, the Chess Club will be meeting in the Desert Rose Room of the Recreation Centre from 9:30 a.m. If you don’t know

how to play, that is not a problem; these lessons are open to both

beginners and intermediates. For further information, email Douglas at [email protected]

Bible Study ClubJohn Nelson, a fellow resident and Pastor, is interested in starting a Bible Study Club. He is suggesting weekly meetings, on Thursdays commencing at 7:00 PM in the Desert Rose Room. It is anticipated that the sessions will run for about 2 hours. Come with an open mind and any questions you may have. John can be contacted at telephone 624-1956 or email [email protected] for further details. John is asking that the participants bring their bible, notebooks and pens.

Wine ClubAnother fun activity is in the planning stages for our residents. From the month of March, the Wine Club, led by a fellow resident, Omar Beckles, a well-known

sommelier, will make you discover this Art of Living. Wine-tasting is the art of appreciating a wine with three of our five senses: sight, smell and taste. This club teaches wine-tasting, how to read a wine label

and serving the right wine to match your food. The Wine Club would like to

meet on the last Sunday of every month in the Desert Rose Room (or Pride of Barbados Patio – if weather permits). The very first meeting will be held on March 30th from 5:00PM. to 7:00PM. Feel free to bring food for good wine pairings. Anyone can become a good wine-taster! If you are interested in getting involved in the Wine Club, please email Omar at [email protected].
