Environmental Health Section, Lead Poisoning Prevention and Control Program

The Lead Poisoning Prevention and Control Program (LPPCP) operates in concert with the Environmental Practitioner Licensure Unit in the Department of Public Health (DPH). The major goal is to eliminate confirmed elevated blood lead levels (>10μg/dL) in children less than 6 years of age in Connecticut by the year 2010. The underlying objective is to protect the health and safety of the people of Connecticut and to prevent lead poisoning and promote wellness through education and a wide range of lead poisoning prevention activities. These activities include: (1) monitoring environmental lead related health hazards, (2) regulating lead hazard identification, abatement and remediation contractors and activities, and the practitioners who provide lead consultant and lead abatement services, (3) providing testing and monitoring support in concert with the state laboratory, (4) collecting and analyzing environmental health data related to lead exposure, (5) developing lead poisoning prevention policies, laws, regulations and strategies, (6) maintaining a statewide lead surveillance data system, (7) providing case management, investigation oversight, and associated services for children ages 6 months through 6 years (in support of local health departments), and (8) providing community and professional outreach and educational services.

The recalled Tinker Bell lamp has model “Tinker Bell Lamp” printed on the bottom of the lamp. The lamp has a sculpted Tinker Bell in a flower garden with an animation of Tinker Bell swaying back and forth while music plays when the light switch or demo button is depressed.

The recalled toy is a package of four action figures. Each figure is about 5 3/4 inches high. The UPC number 604111230003 is printed on the product’s packaging.

Tic Tac Turtle Toss Mats

This recall involves 50-inch vinyl/polyester play mats. The double sided mats have a number design on one side and a turtle design on the other. The mats are yellow with numbers and designs painted in red, blue, green and black. The mat has the Discount School Supply name and logo printed in the corner on both sides of the mat. Bean bags pictured with the mat are sold separately.

Hanging Photo Frames

This recall involves 4-inch by 6-inch hanging picture frames. The wooden frames are white with decorations in different colors, and with a coordinating ribbon attached to the top.

Cranium Cadoo Board Games

Only the die found in Cranium Cadoo board games with lot numbers 2007195 through 2007244 are included in the recall. The Cranium Cadoo game is packaged in a square cardboard box with an orange background. The seven digit lot number is printed under the plastic tray on the bottom half of the box.

This recall involves toy racing cars that are operated with a remote control. The toy racing car comes with four additional tires and one remote control. “Formula 1” is printed on the packaging.

"Hip Charm" Key Chains

There have been no injuries reported with the additional key chains included in this recall. The Illinois Attorney General informed Wal-Mart and CPSC in April that the previously recalled key chain was found in the home of a 9-month-old child who was discovered to have high blood levels of lead. The child was observed mouthing this key chain.
