Our Sponsors and Supporters
EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs).
Our mission as the RESC in western Connecticut is to promote the success of school districts and their communities. Collaboratively with them, we provide educational and
related services. EdAdvance currently works in two regions – Western and Northwestern CT – to provide innovative tobacco use prevention in 23 communities and
leadership advocacy skills to middle and high school students in these communities. Both projects (The Western CT Alliance for Tobacco Free Communities and
Northwestern CT and NW CT Partnership for Tobacco Free Communities) promote tobacco free living as a cultural norm. The projects encourage youth to advocate for tobacco free places and spaces, such as parks, throughout their local communities.
Youth advocates have the opportunity to provide in-school activities that promote tobacco free living, meet with local and state legislators in their towns and at the State Capital, produce a tobacco free PSA for the CT Student Film Festival, participate in a statewide tobacco free student leadership summit, and attend a 3-day national youth
leadership summit. EdAdvance is partnering with CT HOSA to provide these and other opportunities to HOSA students across the region.
