CONNECTING TERRITORIES

Thinking about better alternatives to help the student community of the programs of Export-Import Management, Finance and International Trade, CUES has been in com-munication with companies that offer sof-tware which have application as educatio-nal tools in the practice of foreign trade.

digital port

At the beginning of 2015 CUES selected and purchased a software to be used in courses such as Professional practices, Practices Workshop 1 and Practices Works-hop 2, subjects that are designed and struc-tured for students in advanced semesters of the above programs to implement the acqui-red knowledge and to acquire the skills for handling and preparation of documents commonly used in foreign trade, such as records of import, export documents, import declaration, etc. Additionally, this acquired tool is one of the most used by customs agencies in the region, so the graduated students go to the labor market with required knowledge of this instrument and also knowing the inter-rela-tionship that this tool has with DIAN official programs for the implementation of foreign trade operation.

To support the use of this tool the University adapted an additional System Room in order to be able to use the software smoothly.

In its twelfth version, in the Departmental Encounter of

Loraina Angelica Castaño Uribe, student in Banking and Finance program. With the project “Corner of the world , Fine dining restaurant"

Where you can enjoy a variety of international and national dishes; so far only five countries have been chosen including Colombia, on the way to include others.

It was held on May 27, 28 and 29, 2015 in the Police Academy Antonio Nariño and some of the speakers who represent CUES were:

From a research proposal:

Kasandra Padilla Zabala y Loraina Mendez Amarís students from Exports and Imports Management program.

On May 29, organized by the Department of Administrative and Commercial Sciences and Business Lab, the Showroom of creativity and innovation was celebrated as a sample sce-nario of business projects from students, with great success.

In the morning 30 business ideas were pre-sented and at night 26 appeared, showing the creativity of themselves and evaluating the best of them to try to push and improve the ideas so that they can be shown to the com-munity and try to search financing proposals for the best of them (ideas). The academic community had the opportunity to know them and a group of internal evaluators analyze and qualify them for further feedback to achieve improvement.

The Showroom is emerging as a scenario in which students from CUES share their busi-ness ideas to the community of the university, it’s a domestic market, allowing it to be evalua-ted and constructively criticized by students and teachers. Semester after semester, the Business Lab looks for a scenario that allows the exposal of different business ideas from students to an internal market before heading out to expose the projects and products to a

foreign market. In the first semester 2013-1 the first Showroom sample was successfully held as it managed that all students com-ment and knew other student´s business ideas and a group of evaluators were chosen to analyze, qualify and criticized these busi-ness ideas. According to the project’s suc-cess, the best business ideas that could be completed in the real world, will participate in

the Business Fair of its corresponding year. In 2014, it was decided to realize two showrooms, one each semester, but the second half was a qualifying round to partic-pate in the BUSINESS CUES FAIR.

BEAUTY MATH

• BEAUTY MATH

When it finally arrives the moment in which you spend time on this wonderful world of mathematics, you will fall in love so much that you will give a new meaning to your life, because day after day you will have the curio-sity to explore, to innovate, to observe beyond what your eyes can see.

Now days we see that technology has inva-ded our lives, TIC as tools in the process of learning of mathematics is a didactic resour-ce that allows the student interact, manipula-te, build concepts and be an active subject of their own learning.

Usually students feel apathy for math, becau-se it creates in their mind a concept of "ma-thematics means boredom (boring), difficul-ties, problems ...!"…But mathematics transcend beyond all these, there is love math, for example, we can be polite giving a poem (using mathematics) whose romantic building graphics functions generate the petals of a flower, with parame-tric functions and polar coordinates and even more painting a heart, plotting the function of love where the heart function comprises the

portion contained in the upper half and the function of the heart contained in the lower half-plane.

“Mathematics is the essential emana-tion of the human spirit, one thing that should be valued in itself and for itself,

like art or poetry” (Oswald Veblen)
