Around the Home

Keeping our minds and our bodies active

April heralds Easter, the greatest gift to mankind - Jesus. I hope everyone has family time, enjoy the Easter eggs and the break form life’s routine.

About 10 clients enjoyed lunch at “Noelenes Bookshop” in Wal-laroo on Thursday March 14th. There were many positive com-ments and people enjoyed the social outing. There was lots of

chatter and friendships were forged.

April 19th to 22nd is Easter followed by Anzac day on Thursday 25th. All services are can-celled on these public holidays. Please either negotiate to reschedule services with your home care worker or contact the office if you would like to receive services on the Public Holidays. Rosters are done 7 to 14 days in advance so we would appreciate it if you could contact the office as soon as possible if you require services or rescheduling. Please re-member Public Holiday rate is charged and you will require sufficient funds in your pack-age to receive service.

St Joseph's has many activities through out the week. If you are interested in attending any of them please ring the office, 8823 0019 so we can organise transport to attend. These are free and are a nice way to get to know others in a safe and caring environment. Bingo, morning teas and exercise class are proving to be popular.

As you are all aware over the last month we have been implementing a new system. You would’ve noticed that the staff have new phones which schedule service visits. It is taking a while to adapt to the new system and I apologise in advance for any errors in your March statements. We are running the old system in tandem and still have the ability to cross match the statements if there are any irregularities. Wendy will be more involved with statements, invoicing, client budgets and rostering which means we will have Fiona in the office 4 days a week. You may find it’s Fiona who is on the other end of the phone when you ring.

Speaking of holidays, I will be on leave in April. I’m fortunate enough to be travelling back to London to visit my son and do some sightseeing on the way. Natasha, Wendy and Fiona will all be in the office as per normal.

Please enjoy the photos and Happy Easter to all. Gods richest blessings,

Jenny and the Community Care Team

Community Care Corner.... A Message from the Area General Manager....

Dear Care recipients, families and friends,

We are excited to announce that we have received approval for three bed licenses for the Vianney rooms, as announced by the Government in recent times.

We will be finalising the rooms for occupancy and will then welcome new care recipients to that area.

It is very hard to win new bed licenses and the number of applications Australia wide was huge, we had a one in twelve chance of success, so you can understand our joy.

We have also ventured into community care in Port Pirie and we have a very successful community package program in Yorke Peninsula at-tached to Star of the Sea. We have the capacity to support people in their homes in the Port Pirie region.

We are pleased that we can assist people in their homes to live well for as long as possible in their familiar surroundings.

We are here to help both community and residential with our range of services.

Management have an open door policy and are always available for any matters you may wish to discuss.

Warm Regards, Darylin Cowling General manager

Hi all

I hope you have all faired well through this heat and I’m loving this cooler weather.

The hot days have restricted us a little with outings, but hope you have been enjoying your indoor activities.

Thanks to all resident’s staff and families for contributing to the new activity evaluations your feedback is very important.

Is there anything you would like to do or go to, speak to lifestyle about this?

Easter is fast approaching and we will have activities around this celebration coming up.

Marra will be off 18th to the 26th Fishing at streaky bay.

You are in very good hands with Polma and Trish.

Don’t forget Anzac Day on the 25th of April, we will be having a service and morning tea.

In May we welcome Trish to the lifestyle team, Polma and Trish will job share with Polma 3 days a week and Trish 2 days a week.

We welcome Sarina to catering and Robyn to cleaning

We had 2 reviews of late, one was the Food Safety Audit we have to do a few paperwork changes but all in all it was a good audit and we will see him again in 12 months

We also had a menu review, again just a few small changes which we will discuss with you at the next residents meetings.

We thank you for all the compliments of late for the meals provided, we do appreciate this as we strive to bring you the meals you like.

As you would know we are moving in to the new standards as of the 1st of July , we will be discussing more of this at each meeting and look forward to working with you for a better future

Next resident meeting for St Marks is April the 9th at 1pm, next meeting for St Clare is April 10th at 1pm

Stay safe

Hi Everyone,

I can’t believe another month has gone by, time is going so quickly!

The new Aged Care Quality Standards are starting to be displayed around the facility to ensure that everyone is aware of the new standards and their rights. If you have any questions around these please do not hesitate to ask.

Staff are undertaking training on the new Aged Care Quality Standards to ensure a smooth transition and that all of our care recipients receive the best possible outcomes.

If you have any suggestions, praise, complaints or general feedback please use one of the feedback forms that can be found around the facility to let us know.
