Sometimes It’s Hard to Ask for Help
We’re brought up to be strong, self-sufficient, independent people. We tend to think that if we ask for help, it is a sign of weakness. So we try to keep our struggles hidden, stuffed deep inside. However, that’s not God’s plan. Galatians 6:2 says, “Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” God wants us to care for others—and allow others to care for us in our time of need.
If you’re sad or struggling inside, don’t suffer alone. Ask for help. We’ve got a team of Stephen Ministers who are ready to listen, care, encourage, pray, and help you through a tough time. (It’s confidential too!) Find out more about Stephen Ministry by talking with one of our Stephen Leaders: Pastor Maurer, Beth Goetz or Steve Kistler
Our Stephen Ministers Are There To Care!

PRAYER LIST SEPTEMBER, 2019
NOT AVAILABLE ONLINE
If you have anyone that you would like to place on our list, please contact Holly at the church
office @ 570-784-5035
Please Note: You must have the permission from the friends or family that you would like to
post here. Names will not be posted without the approval of those to be listed. TY!
An issue was identified about the need for
prayer balanced with the responsibility for
privacy of individuals. After much discussion
and prayer, the Mutual Ministry Committee has
developed the following guideline. This has
been approved by Congregation Council.
Comments on the guideline should be given
to the Mutual Ministry Committee. POLICY
FOR NAMES BEING ADDED TO THE
PRAYER LIST
(Approved by Congregation Council
October 8, 2007)
To ensure the privacy of information the
Congregation Council of St. Luke Lutheran
Church, Bloomsburg, PA provides the
following guidelines for adding a person’s name
to the prayer list. St. Luke Church highly
encourages a community in prayer for the
needs of members, friends and families.
However, the church also recognizes the need
to protect personal and private information. In
order to maintain the balance between the
benefit of prayer and personal privacy the
Congregation Council has established the
following:
• A person can request that their name be
added to the prayer list and it will be
added.
• If a person requests another person’s name
be added to the prayer list, that person
must have the permission of the person
prior to the name being added.
• The prayer list will include the person’s
first name and last initial (full last name
may be included with the permission of the
person being added to the prayer list).
• The reason for being on the prayer list will
be listed as health concerns, healing,
general concerns, recovery, grieving, etc.
Specific information as to the exact
medical issues will not be listed.
A person can be added to the prayer list by
calling the church office at 570-784-5035. A
name will stay on the list for a minimum of
three weeks. It may be removed sooner if
requested. As long as an update is provided to
the church office and the person wishes the
name to remain, the name will remain on the
prayer list.
Prayer List “Heal me, O Lord,
and I will be healed;
save me and I will be
saved, for you are the
one I praise”
—Jeremiah 17:14
“Is any one of you
sick? He should call
the elders of the
church to pray over
him and anoint him
with oil in the name
of the Lord. And the
prayer offered in faith
will make the sick
person well; the Lord
will raise him up. If
he has sinned, he will
be forgiven.
Therefore confess
your sins to each
other and pray for
each other so that you
may be healed. The
prayer of a righteous
man is powerful and
effective.”
—James 5:14-16 (NIV)
The Lord will guide
you always; he will
satisfy your needs in
a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen
your frame. You will
be like a well-watered
garden, like a spring
whose waters never
fail.
—-Isaiah 58:11
