We believe in the concept of a new total building envelope system of construction design and materials that control the movement of gas, moisture, and air in and out of the construction building. Our goal in insulation is to make the constructions more stable, healthier, comforta-ble, and more sustainable for our planet. Weve got all your needs covered: from new residential constructions to commercial building.Home Benefits: Significant Heating & Cooling Savings Reduces sound, dust, dirt, & pollen from

    Retrofityour Attic

The vast majority of existing homes in the world are insulated with air-use insulator (fiberglass, cellulose). In retro fitting an existing home you must first look at where your money will be most well spent. The roof area of a house consumes as much as 35% of the energy needed to heat and cool a home. This part of a house should be the

first area sprayed as it is the largest energy consumer of your AC system. Installing open cell polyurethane foam (spray foam) allows

your AC system to work less which saves you up to 50% on your utility bill. The energy savings payback on installing this type of foam is 2-5 years. Give us a call today and we will send our maintenance expert to customize a one-time consultation to discuss a comprehensive plan and budget for the work you want done.

As spoken by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Lifes most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others? We can find part of the answer through community service, a gift of love for our fellow human beings. During this season, which traditionally represents love, ConnexionW has a special guest, Dr. Ann Snyder, a woman who has devoted her life to serving the community. She shares her work at Interfaith of The Woodlands and expresses her feelings of love for others.

Dr. Rebecca Bustamante shares an article about the complexities of love and conveys what it implies beyond the common romance.

We begin the year with a new Governor. Aside from the political overtones, the arrival of Greg Abbott to the Governorship of Texas brings a recognition of the cultural diversity in the state. Texas has been the blending of cultures from across the globe even before we became our own nation, said the political figure in his inaugural address.

Abbott raised the issue of multiculturalism in which we live and referenced, with pride, a historical fact, that his wife Cecilia is the first Hispanic to be a First Lady in the history of Texas. This couple is a clear example of the coexistence and harmony between different cultures.

Mario C. Daz, Director of the Houston Airport System for the City of Houston, announces the arrival of a new international airport, which means more passengers and airlines coming to Houston.

The joy of Mardi Gras could not be missed. Join us on a literary journey to this Louisiana Carnival, described by many New Orleans natives as the Greatest free show on Earth!

What Can We Do For Others?

In the U.S. February 14th is Valentines Day, which is commonly known as the day of romance. In Mexico and Guatemala February 14th celebrations extend from romantic love to include friendship and affection, and the celebration is called, Day of Love and Friendship (El Da de Amor y Amistad) or Day of Affection (Da del Cario). However, other Latin American countries celebrate similar themes in the month of September.

For some people Valentines Day events can evoke feelings of longing...longing for some love, more love or an understanding of love. What seems important to remember is that adoration manifests in many ways that go beyond romantic conceptions. Perhaps an awareness of the complexities of love can help us stave this sense of longing and lacking.

The Four LovesThe famous Christian author C.S. Lewis, in trying

to distinguish between gift love (God is love) and need love (a childs love of a parent), defined love as follows in his book The Four Loves:

Storge-AffectionPhilia-Friendship/CompanionshipEros-RomanceAgape-Unconditional love and compassionSome might experience philia in interacting with

their pets or enact both storge and agape through community service to those in need. Many spiritual leaders, including the Dalai Lama, promote

compassion (agape) as the most essential type of love for humanity. He defines agape as that close, warm-hearted feeling for others that puts our mind at ease.

Also important is self-love or self-worth. This type of love is about loving and nurturing ourselves, but it is considered distinct from self-interest and selfishness. We are often told that in order to feel affection for others, we must love and accept ourselves. In the tradition of the Tao, the author Lao Tzu stresses self-nurturing, or what the Taoists call Chang, as the most important love. By practicing self-nurturing, we can avoid the fear, disappointment and sense of lacking that comes from overdependence on others to define love and our own sense of value and self-worth.

For those who are interested in improving romantic relationships (eros), there are many popular resources available. Some of my favorites include books by psychologist John Gottman (www.gottman.com), who has conducted extensive research on long-term, healthy, happy marriages, and he has several easy to read books with helpful exercises for couples. Many couples also find the simple

concepts presented in the book, Five Languages of Love, by Gay Chapman very helpful. For those singles looking to spice up their love life this year check out the numerous blogs by dating coaches. Many of them have terrific advice to get you started on a new path.

Overall, try to keep in mind that love takes many forms that go beyond our societal obsession with romance as the most important. Practicing self-nurturing and compassion for humanity in all its forms is a life source that allows us to further extend, expand and receive affection for and from others. May you cultivate LOVE in all its forms!

Mardi Gras! These two French words meaning Fat Tuesday exude fun. The words roll off the tongue and transform into colorful images of parades and costumes creating a picture of a purple, green and gold tidal wave. The holiday is celebrated as Carnival and Shrovetide in other countries, and it has been described by many New Orleans natives as the Greatest Free Show on Earth!

The celebration, rooted in the beliefs of Catholicism, symbolize the last day of Carnival season, which begins twelve days after Christmas. During this time revelers indulge in food and drink in anticipation of Lent.

Mardi Gras is a way of life for the citizens, and it is celebrated as a legal holiday in Cajun Country, with schools and businesses closing for the day. Locals and visitors line the streets for the opportunity to see Carnival royalty, festive floats and to catch the throws, which can be anything from trinkets, cups, beads, doubloons (fake money/coins), even coconuts and more, being tossed by the royal court. Be ready! The words, Throw me something mister! will be echoed throughout the streets during parade festivities, and attendees will take extreme measures to make sure they get their carnival loot. Many wait patiently for hours for the parades to roll by while anticipating the colorful mementos to be caught commemorating the cultural experience.

Parades are the first things that come to mind when most people think of carnival revelry. However, other traditions, such as Masquerade Balls, are highly anticipated by the Krewes, which are private organiza-tions that require membership. Kings, Queens, the Royal Court and Krewe Members work all year long to reap the reward of the magnificent gala. Royal Balls are where fairy tales come to life. With the extravagant formal ball gowns to dancing and feasting every girl wants to be the belle of their Krewes ball.

Rex is Latin for King, and Rex reigns as The King of Carnival. The Krewe of Rex is one of the oldest partic-ipating groups. The Rex parade is considered the main attraction due to its Krewes creative costumes, bold themes and spectacularly decorated floats.

During carnival season one may stroll along the streets of New Orleans and throughout the French Quarter and find a party or celebration taking place. The sounds of traditional parade tunes can be heard blaring throughout

    In the Midstof Mysteryand Revelry:

the bars on Bourbon Street and by listening to the melody of local street performers. By the end of this festive season the words to The Hawkettes, Mardi Gras Mambo and The Meters, They all Asked for You will forever be stored in ones memory.

If invited to any bacchanal celebrations your taste buds will experience gastronomical delight while feasting on many of Louisianas finest dishes from jambalaya and touffe to muffulettas and more. A trip to the Big Easy during this season of jubilee would be incomplete without sampling the traditional king cake, which is made from cinnamon dough that is twisted into strands and covered with purple, green and gold sugar.

The experience may include enjoying savory dishes, partying in the streets with the Carnival revelers, joining royalty at a ball or catching a parade and taking in the sights of the beautiful floats. Its a tradition that should be experienced at least once in a lifetime. As said in Louisiana, Laissez les bons temps rouler! Its a Cajun expression meaning Let the good times roll!

At least five new airlines will be coming to Houston. In October, Hobby Interna-tional (HOU) will cease to be a domestic airport to become an international airport for the Americas. In the first year of operation as an interna-tional airport, it is expected to increase the number of users to one million passengers. Also, the arrival of new airlines at Houston Intercontinental (IAH) will bring another one million passengers. There will be more than two million new passengers.

Many Seats Equal Many PassengersAmong the airlines arriving is the Japanese airline, All Nippon

Airways (ANA), which will be coming to Houston in the Spring of 2015 to operate a new route between Houston and Tokyo. All Nippon Airways will travel non-stop as of June 12th. On June 19th, the Taiwanese airline, EVA Air, will join our ranks to offer direct flights to and from Taipei and Houston (IAH). Having this option increases travel between Asia and many other destinations for the Americas. The Mexican airline Volaris recently inaugurated its maiden flight, flying Houston (IAH) to Guadalajara (GDL).

The economy is growing rapidly in Latin America. We want to make Houston, the largest city in the United States that is part of Latin America, reaffirms Mr. Daz. He continues, In 2015 the price of oil will continue falling and this lowers airfares. We will have many flights available with lower fares due to the airlines having lower operating cost associated with providing services in our area.

When planning to transfer to the United States with your family, an expeditious way to travel is to apply for an Investor Visa. The Depart-ment of Immigration provides E-1 Visas to citizens of countries for which the United States imports and exports, E-2 Visas for investors, L-1A Visas to transfer-ring executives and EB-5 Visas to big companies and/or investors that stimulate the U.S. economy through job creation and capital investment. When processing any of these different types of Visas, the government will require you to develop a Business Plan with a five year financial business layout, the nature of your business or company and a market study focused on the business you wish to begin in the United States, including a detailed summary with established business roles.

Each Visa is different and the requirements for each are not the same from one to the next. However, each travel document requires a company to produce a particular investment, forecast net income and confirm the number of job positions it will create. In each case, there must be strong financial viability for a new business, and it must have the capacity to generate significantly more income than solely providing a living for the investor.

The EB-5 Visa provides a direct route for U.S. residency or a Green Card for those investing $500,000 or $1 million dollars in a business that will create ten new jobs for American workers.

The L-1 Visa allows companies who operate a business both in the United States and abroad to transfer certain classes of employees and their family from its foreign operations to the USA for up to seven years.

The E-2 Investor Visa is for investors who are seeking to enter the U.S. with the purpose of developing and creating business opportunities with a proven investment of at least $100,000 and proof of creating 2-4 jobs within the company.

For an E-1 Visa, it is not required to show a specific amount of investment, but requires that a 50% turnover rate is originated from international transac-tions between the U.S. and the country of origin of the person applying for the visa.

For each type of document, specific requirements apply, and in each case the development of a Business Plan and compelling documentation is crucial to approval.

Good things are for sharing.Dr. Ann Snyder

This month as we celebrate Valentines Day, Connex-ionW would like to honor a woman who, for the last 40 years, has worked hard and given her heart to The Woodlands community. Dr. Ann Snyder came from Nebraska and has made her home here in Texas to lead and teach through example with warmth and joy. The most important thing in life for Dr. Snyder is to serve others. She is the President and CEO at Interfaith of The Woodlands, an organization which she has devoted her entire life to serving.

Alba Malaver: What is the mission at Interfaith of The Woodlands?

Our mission is to build a more loving and caring community and we do that by connecting with people.

AM: What is your source of inspiration?

What inspires me is how good it makes me feel when helping other people. You get as much from giving as receiving. I have done it since I was very young. My parents were very community centered. I grew up in a family where everyone was welcome at our table. It is exciting to see an organization make a difference in someones life.

AM: What do you do when you are not working?

My free time is Interfaith. I have a wonderful husband who has always been supportive of me. Prior to working as President and CEO at Interfaith of The Woodlands, I was on the board. I am also on the board for the hospitals, I served on the School Board, was Chairman of the Chamber and I always volunteer which has always been fun.

AM: What is coming up with Interfaith? We have a large number of Spring events coming

up. Serving Our Seniors (SOS), is scheduled for March 7th. We have youth groups, families and corpora-tions that reach out to homes within our community to build fences and to change light bulbs. It is a great day of service to help our seniors in the community. We will generally average over 400 volunteers. Five Who Share Spring Luncheon is coming in March too, and it celebrates volunteerism.

AM: What is the message that you want to share? The message is that good things are for sharing.

do servicio comunitario.

Did you know This day was established in honor of

Valentine, a priest who preached in 3rd century Rome. Claudius II, who governed during this time period, decided to prohibit holy matrimony between young couples in order for young men to function as soldiers. Claudius II thought that being single, and without any emotional attachment, one would provide better military service. The clergy considered this idea unjust and defied the emperor by celebrating and performing secret wedding ceremonies. Valentines practices were discovered and he was incarcerated, executed and martyred on February 14, 270 A.D.

Between the years 496 and 498 A.D., Pope Gelasius marked February 14th as a celebration in honor of Valentines Martydrom. From this day forward, St. Valentine was converted into the patron saint for couples in love.

In1913, Hallmark flooded the market with greeting cards in reference to February 14th as St. Valentines Day or Love and Friendship Day.

Valentines Day continues to be a trendy gift-giving event even when consumers are frugal, and the day of romance wasnt quite as sweet for retailers in 2014. According to a survey by the National Retail Federation (NRF), they found that consumers only spent a bit more ($134) on average in 2014, which was up 1.3 percent from 2013. According to the President and CEO of NRF, Matthew Shay, Retailers recognize that their customers are still looking for the biggest bang for their buck.

Men spend more than double on Valentines Day gifts than women. Small details can make the difference. Happy Valentines Day!

The stellar cast of Into the Woods graced Curzon in Mayfair for the premiere of their ardently anticipated film. From James Corden to Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick and Johnny Depp, their collaboration has garnered them a huge following. The film takes a modern twist on the popular Brothers Grimm fairy tales including some of our beloved and classic tales Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack and the Beanstalk. It follows the journey of the baker and his wife played by British funny man James Corden and British starlet Emily Blunt.

Cara Delevingne certainly stole the fashion crown in 2014, aptly being awarded Model of the Year at the British Fashion awards in December. However, it seems her career is veering on a different course in 2015. The Burberry model has her eyes set on Hollywood and is due to appear in an estimated five films this year; the release dates are still pending. So we will have to wait and see if Hollywood is her destiny or if the catwalk is her true calling.
