The practice round format was 2-man scramble, 18 holes of stroke play.

* - The winners were determined by tiebreakers stipulated in the tournament rules.

Thursday Skills ChallengesPutting Challenge: Chris Warfield/Jason Dunn 19 $322 Chip Anastasi/Doug Hadsell 20 $138

The Putting Challenge consisted of a nine-hole putting course played in an alternate-shot format. The team completing the course in the fewest putts wins. Entry fee was $20 per team; 100% of entry fee going to the prize fund. Each team could complete the challenge one time. The winning team received 70% of the prize fund and the second place team received 30%. Twenty-three teams competed in the challenge.

Long Putt Challenge: Andy MacLean 11” $100 gift card

The challenge was held on the 18th green. Players had two chances to make a putt from approximately 35 feet. Prize awarded for closest putt.

Chipping Challenge: Steve Thorpe 4” $100 gift card

The challenge was held on the 9th green. Players had two chances to make a chip from the pavilion area. Prize awarded for closest chip.

Each flight winning team, as well as two wild card teams, (the two teams accumulating the highest number of match points while not winning their flight) entered a shoot out to determine the Member Guest champions. The shoot out was played on the 9th hole from 150 yards. Low score wins. The winning and second place teams were determined in the second round.

The format of this event was 2-player, 18-hole better ball. Each player played six holes of his choosing from the Red tees, six from the White tees and six from the Blue tees. The field was flighted based on each team’s gross better ball score.

• Chris Warfield placed second in the sectional qualifying of the Remax World Long Drive Championship, held at the Deer Run Golf Club on July 9th. Chris hit a drive of 335 yards, nine yards behind the leader. He qualified for the regional final to be held at Oakland Beach Golf Club in Conneaut Lake, PA on August 13th. Good luck Chris.

Events described as “Open Scramble” events are open to SRGC members, players pass holders and public players. By inviting non-members to compete in certain events, the Club offers an expanded tournament calendar for members to play, increases the field size and the prize potential of the events and exposes non-members to the possibilities of Club membership. Members can register for all events in the Tournament Registration Book kept on the Handicap Computer Desk in the SRGC clubhouse. All tournament registration forms are in the book so sign up early for all the events you plan to play in 2011.
