Constructing the Poster

In our initial plan of our poster, we found a picture online of a girl running in order to get possible ideas for the main image of our poster. We added this photo to Quark, and experimented with different layouts of the poster to see which would work most effectively, and the basic idea of our poster before we went into more detail with the types of font, the Photoshop edits and more.

We took a photo of Han-sun, the main actress of our movie, and experimented with different ways to present this image onto the poster. We thought it would be effective if we were to have a faded portrait of Han-sun over the running image. For the portrait, we used direct mode of address, so that it would direct the audience of the poster. We experimented by trying different compositions of placing the faded image.

We edited the background of the running image with a bright setting, to emphasize the contrast between the faded black and white portrait of Han-sun over the running image. We also wanted to reflect the effects of the vision in drug use, as lights become more exaggerated and unclear.

We also arranged the text of the title to reflect that it is “dragging” her down, and used red font to make it more eye-catching.

Same font used in beginning sequence of the movie, for the movie title.

Red font to stand out, bring emphasis in contrast to the dark background and dull colours in the poster.

SF movie font, to show conventions of a real movie poster.

Running picture of main actress, the main scene of the film: the beginning and ending.

Layout: main actor and actress names at the top of the poster

Constructing the ReviewFor the main image, we took a screenshot from the short film, though we did not make any edits on Photoshop.

We maintained the colour scheme of the page, though we used a blue font for the ‘Drug Me Down’ title to match the blue hat in the photo.

We created the layout on Quark; by laying it out in columns, we created a review that followed the conventions of a real review.

To follow the conventions of a movie review, we added a quote from a review in big letters, to catch attention.

We edited in 5 stars for the film rating.
