�� Release 8.1 is compatible with the following Autodesk platforms:

Techno 2: Windows Vista Pro Compatibility

�� Release 8.1 is compatible with the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro – SP4, Windows XP Pro and Windows VistaPro.



Techno 3: 64-bit compatibility

�� Advance Concrete 8.1 is 64-bit compliant.

Techno 4: IFC 2x3 Compatibility

�� Advance Concrete 8.1 is IFC 2x3 compliant. This standard allows exchanges between different software for the construction industry.

Techno 5: Update of the GTC technology

�� The new GTC platform can exchange IFC 2x3 formats. Another improvement provides the option to export a mixed model created withAdvance Steel and Advance Concrete. A new window was designed for the synchronization.



Techno 6: New toolbar – "Project Settings"

�� All adjustments to the project (e.g., units, material library, bar library, representation styles, etc.) are accessible on a single toolbar. Thiscentralization facilitates and significantly accelerates the initial configuration process.

Techno 7: Saving the global project configuration

�� Several complete adjustment sets can be saved in ACPRJ files for later use. An advantage is that configuration files can be exchanged byusers. The work is only performed once.

�� During the creation of a new project, the project manager can reuse a predefined configuration. The selection of the desired ACPRJ file inthe configuration window is the only requirement.



STRUCTURAL MODELINGModel 1: New level altitude management

�� The height of each level is defined relative to the lower level as in previous versions or relative to a fixed origin (e.g., MSL system). Therelative and absolute modes are both available for simpler general altimetry entry.

Model 2: Roof – Combining roofs

�� For faster and easier roof development, several roofs created separately can be grouped into one roof.



Model 3: Slab – Globally modifying edge margins

�� A significant shortcut: the slab edge margins can be defined globally. This functionality is useful for rapid definition of slabs.



Model 4: Slab – New split tool

�� As the project evolves, new support elements are created, and the slabs require a new cut. The new slab split function adapts the modelrapidly and easily without erasing and recreating the floors.



Model 5: Wall – New attribute for creating brick shelves

�� In the wall element properties, there is a new attribute for creating upper levels with brick shelves. A profile created with a simple polyline isenough to model a wall on all or part of its thickness.



Model 6: Wall – New option for joint creation during the cutting of a wall

�� The cut element function has a new option for immediately placing a joint representation (e.g., "Waterstop" type) on the drawing to the rightof the cut.



Model 7: Continuous footing – Creation of redents between two continuous footings with different depths

�� A new function available in the continuous footing properties window: automatic creation of redents between footings with different depths.



Model 8: New tool for isolating or hiding elements

�� The "Advance Tools" toolbar has two new icons for hiding and isolating a selection of elements.

�� Attribute units can be displayed in symbols and annotations using an appropriate syntax.

Draw 2: Section – New function for the creation of cuts on the plan view

�� Local cuts can be created directly on the plan view.



Draw 3: Reinforcement drawing – Returning to the modified view parameters

�� Even after the creation of a reinforcement drawing, it is possible to return to the parameters of each view.

Draw 4: Level dimension – Displaying mm in exponent

�� The millimeter can be shown as an exponent on level dimensions as in traditional dimensions.



Draw 5: Section – Moving grid bubbles on cuts and other calculated views

�� A useful function for placement: grid axis bubbles can be moved on calculated views.



REINFORCEMENT DRAWINGSReo 1: Steel frames – Modifying segment lengths in the properties window

�� As for other bars, the frame segment dimensions are directly modified in the properties window.

Reo 2: Selection of a bar length calculation mode

�� Advance 8.1 offers three methods for the total bar length calculation:� Calculation of the exact developed length� Calculation by summation of projected segment lengths� Calculation based on a user formula



Reo 3: Choice of number of digits to use in the bar number

�� The user can set the number of digits for the display of bar numbers. For bar No. 1, the format can be: 1, 01, 001…

Reo 4: Choice of bar reference mark contents in the preferences

�� The user can create the bar reference mark contents based on type (e.g., straights, bent, variable). The user can select among the attributes:diameter, length, prefix, number, and suffix.



Reo 5: Elements collision test – New tool

�� Bar collision control is available. In complex reinforcement bar nodes or in particularly dense reinforcement areas, the drawn bars mightoverlap. Advance detects these collisions and facilitates their localization for rapid development. This new tool is based on the 3D reinforcementcage derived from the 2D views.



Reo 6: Cut a bar – Overlap length as a function of diameter

�� In the "cut a bar" tool, the overlap length is determined as a function of bar diameter.

Reo 7: Cut a bar – New choices for cut points

�� The "cut a bar" tool provides more options for positioning the overlap areas: 3 automatic modes and 1 manual mode.



Reo 8: Cut a bar – Automatic placement of couplers

�� When the bars are cut, Advance provides a coupler and thread solution in addition to the traditional overlap modes. The coupler library isopen and can be improved by the user



Reo 9: Cut a bar – Returning to the cut properties

�� The bar cut becomes a property of the bars. The cut bars remain linked and all their cut properties can be viewed and modified.



Reo 10: Creation of custom bar shapes and storing in the library – Shape with optional segment

�� In addition to the standard bar shapes, the user can create and save new types that are entirely customizable.

Reo 11: Create a list – Advance only provides lists that correspond to the selected elements.

�� After the selection of a list type for the bars and another type for the fabric panel, Advance provides, by default, a list that corresponds to theselected elements.



Reo 12: Visual bar displacement from the context menu

�� On the bar context menu, there is an available drawing development tool: it visually moves bars on plan views to improve their readability.This is useful when the bars are merged in the same layer. The 3D model is not affected by these retouches.



Reo 13: Multiplication factor on cut type distribution

�� The multiplication factor is applied on the cut type distributions as on the other distributions. Its behavior is homogeneous.

Reo 14: Management of tolerances on bar lengths

�� Tolerance rules on lengths can be used on bars to streamline bar orders by limiting, if possible, the number of different references to make.The rounding calculation can be performed on segment lengths or total bar length. Rounded lengths appear on bending details and in bar lists.The bar numbering considers the rounded lengths.



Reo 15: Automatic drafting – New arrangement of bending details conforming to the model

�� The bar bending details automatically extracted are arranged following their location on the reinforcement drawing and not by their length.

Reo 16: Bar list – Option for hiding warning messages ###

�� In the bar list properties, there is an option to hide future warning messages.



Reo 17: Modification of a bar – Choice to modify all the bars with the same number

�� The behavior of the application during a bar modification is defined in the preferences. Three options are provided:Modify all the bars with the same numberAssignment of a new number to a modified barChoice of behavior at each modification

Reo 18: Bar list – Selecting the start page

�� When a bar list is on more than one page the page number appears in the header. The user can select the number of the first page if, forexample, the list is going to be included in a book.



Reo 19: New table of steel grades and covers by element

�� A new table was created in Advance Concrete for defining bar covers as a function of their type, allocation, and concrete quality.



Reo 20: New table of overlaps as a function of diameter

�� The overlap lengths are centralized in a specific table in the software.



Reo 21: "Dynamic Reinforcement" – New technology for reinforcement solutions

�� A new technologyThe user can use the provided dynamic reinforcement library or define custom reinforcement rules.A dynamic reinforcement can pertain to a single structure element or multiple structure elements and their connection (e.g., column/footing,beam/column, slab/wall, etc.).

The user creates the reinforcement cage using the reinforcement views and reference points.



The solution is then saved:

The application conditions of the solution can be defined: maximum or minimum thickness of elements, used materials, etc.Parameters are available for customizing a solution during its use.



Each dynamic reinforcement is saved in an independent file:



When a dynamic reinforcement is applied, Advance provides all appropriate solutions for the selected element types.

The created reinforcement bars adapt to the formwork dimensions. The bars are included in the model and can be considered on reinforcementviews or lists.

Important features of this new technology:The dynamic reinforcements can include application conditions (maximum and minimum dimensions, etc.).When a dynamic reinforcement is applied, Advance provides all appropriate types for the structure.The solutions are saved in external files. They can be reused, exchanged, downloaded, etc.



Reo 22: Linear distribution – Displaying only the distribution line (without the bars)

�� A new arrangement for the visual elements of linear distributions: all bars can be hidden with only the distribution line visible.



Reo 23: Distribution – Changing the definition bar is extended to more distributions

�� The ability to change the definition bar is extended to "one to one" distributions and free distributions.



Reo 24: Linear distribution – Option for considering tolerance on a spacing

�� A new arrangement appears in the linear distributions: the residual spaces are suppressed by specifying a tolerance on the spacing value onthe properties bar.



Reo 25: Linear distribution – Graphical input of bar angles

�� During the creation of a linear distribution, the bar angle can be input directly on the properties bar or graphically input on the screen.

Reo 26: Quantitative distribution –An option like the representation of a symbol

�� A new option in the project preferences allows quantitative distributions to have the same representation as bar symbols. The red color forthese distributions remains available.



Reo 27: Variable distribution – Choice of index type

�� In the project preferences, an index type can be selected for the numbering of variable bars: figures, small chaps or capitals.

Reo 28: Variable distribution – New arrangement for distributed bar cuts

�� In the variable distribution properties, a tolerance (by default or by excess) can be specified for bar cuts. The bars are grouped, if possible, byidentical length batches, which streamlines the bar order by limiting the number of references.



Reo 29: Variable distribution – Locking or freeing the segment length

�� Prior to drawing a variable distribution, the user can set (from the definition bar context menu) the segments with fixed lengths and thesegments with variable lengths.



Reo 30: On a cut bar – Moving overlaps

�� Larger flexibility is available for bar overlaps that can be graphically moved.

Reo 31: Bars symbols – Addition of a "reinforcement note"

�� By double clicking the bar symbol, a custom note can be attached to it: a reinforcement note. The created notes can be saved and reused forother bars.



Reo 32: Meshes – Detailed description of parameters in the fabric library

�� The fabric library has precise bending details describing the group of geometric parameters available for each panel.



Reo 33: Reinforcement 3D viewer – Creation of new filters

�� The 3D visual display window of bars has on the left side a group of filters that can display bars by type.



Reo 34: Automatic search of bar shape codes

�� When a polygonal bar is drawn, the program automatically searches for its shape code in the standard library.



Reo 35: New module for managing material quantities

�� This new quantity management module creates and displays bar lists and prepares orders.



Elements are sorted in the project tree structure.

The elements can be selected on the screen.

The created lists can be exported to Excel, Word, or placed directly on drawings.



This module prepares bar orders in a file format used by numerically controlled machines. The available formats are ASA and Soule.

The ordered bars are locked and can no longer be modified on drawings.



Reo 36: Associating bars to a structure element

�� The bars are automatically associated with a structure element if they are created from a reinforcement style or a reinforcement solution. It isalso possible to manually associate them to a structure element if they were drawn with basic commands. Then certain bar lists can bepresented by element.

Reo 37: New table for hooks

�� The default values for hooks and anchors are directly accessible from the Advance Concrete interface. All data is centralized in a new table.



Reo 38: Control of the minimal length of segments and hooks

�� The application has additional control over the minimal lengths of bar segments and their hooks. These minimal values were added to thebar library.

�� This option selects the behavior of Advance: do nothing, display a warning, or block the bar command.



Reo 39: New spacer library

�� A new library is included in Advance Concrete: for spacers. It integrates linear spacers of seats. Specific commands for distributions and foraccounting for new elements are available.



Reo 40: New function for placing spacers

�� A new function was included for placing linear spacers and seats.



Reo 41: Placement and allocation rules for spacers

�� Available choices for seats and linear spacers are defined in a specific table. The user can define a list of appropriate spacers as a functionof element type and dimensions.



Reo 42: Weight estimate

�� When opening a folder, the project manager can enter bar weight estimates. This estimate can be more or less detailed: cutting the structurein zones or levels, distribution by bar types and diameter, etc.

During the modeling, each drawing is associated to an estimated segment:



It is possible to follow the percentages of drawn or ordered bars for the duration of the project.
