Web App on Linux (Preview) enables developers to run their cloud apps natively on Docker Containers for Linux. It makes it easier to migrate existing apps hosted and optimized for the Linux platform into Azure App Service. Furthermore, with custom Docker Container support, developers can implement applications in many programming languages and stacks while taking advantage of Docker tooling as well as the industry leading PaaS capabilities of Azure App Service.

Today, we are announcing the availability of many of our differentiated PaaS capabilities to developers whether they are building apps on Linux or just want to bring their apps already packaged as containers. Developers are invited to experience improved productivity with capabilities such as Continuous Integration (CI), testing and staging environments, testing-in-production, performance testing capabilities, SSH support, and much more.

We are also happy to announce availability of Web App on Linux in the Australia East region, in addition to West US, West Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Here are some of the key enhancements we have added to App Service on Linux Preview:

Site slots & swap Auto scale SSH anyone? Setup Continuous Deliver using VSTS Docker image CI/CD from Docker hub Deploy WordPress on Linux

Azure DevTest Labs updates at Build 2017https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/azure-devtest-labs-updates-at-build-2017/

Azure DevTest Labs is an Azure service that enables IT admins to create cost-controlled, self-service labs for developers and testers to quickly create environments in Azure, while minimizing waste and optimizing cost. We announced the service general availability last May and have since continued to expand on how to solve our customers’ real life scenarios. Today, as Microsoft Build 2017 is happening in Seattle, we would like to take this moment to look back all the key functionalities we've shipped since the Connect() conference last November, and explain how they can help you in various scenarios.

Targeted scenarios

Our customers have been using DevTest Labs in the following scenarios:

Developer machines Test environments Training/education Trial/hackathon/demo

Announcing general availability of Storage Service Encryption for Azure File Storagehttps://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-general-availability-of-storage-service-encryption-for-azure-file-storage/

Today, we are excited to announce the general availability of Storage Service Encryption for Azure Files Storage.

Azure File Storage is a fully managed service providing distributed and cross platform storage. IT organizations can lift and shift on premises file shares to the cloud using Azure Files, by simply pointing the applications to Azure file share path. Thus, enterprises can start leveraging cloud without having to incur development costs to adopt cloud storage. Azure Files Storage is now the first fully managed file service offering encryption of data at rest.

This capability is one of the features most requested by enterprise customers looking to protect sensitive data as part of their regulatory or compliance needs (HIPAA and BAA compliant). Azure customers already benefit from Storage Service Encryption for Azure Blob Storage. Encryption support for Azure Tables and Queues will be coming by June.

Microsoft handles all the encryption, decryption and key management in a fully transparent fashion. All data is encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption, also known as AES-256, one of the strongest block ciphers available. Customers can enable this feature on all available redundancy types of Azure File Storage – LRS and GRS. There is no additional charge for enabling this feature.

At Build, Microsoft expands its Cognitive Services collection of intelligent APIshttps://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/at-build-microsoft-expands-its-cognitive-services-collection-of-intelligent-apis/

Today at the Build 2017 conference, we are excited to announce the next big wave of innovation for Microsoft Cognitive Services, significantly increasing the value for developers looking to embrace AI and build the next generation of applications.

Customizable: With the addition of Bing Custom Search, Custom Vision Service and Custom Decision Service on top of Custom Speech and Language Understanding Intelligent Service, we now have a broader set of custom AI APIs available, allowing customers to use their own data with algorithms that are customized for their specific needs.

Cutting edge technologies: Today we are launching Microsoft’s Cognitive Services Labs, which allow any developer to take part in the broader research community’s quest to better understand the future of cognitive computing, by experimenting with new services still in the early stages of development. One of the first AI services being made available via our Cognitive Services Labs is Project Prague, which lets you use gestures to control and interact with technologies to have more intuitive and natural experiences. This cutting edge and easy to use SDK is in private preview.

High pace of innovation: We’re expanding our Cognitive Services portfolio to 29 intelligent APIs with the addition of Video Indexer, Custom Decision Service, Bing Custom Search, and Custom Vision Service, along with the new Cognitive Services Lab Project Prague, for gestures, and updates to our existing Cognitive Services, such as Bing Search, Microsoft Translator and Language Understanding Intelligent Service.

Microsoft extends Azure managed database services with introduction of MySQL and PostgreSQLhttps://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/microsoft-extends-azure-managed-database-services-with-introduction-of-mysql-and-postgresql/

As we look across what is happening at Microsoft Build, we are excited to announce the preview of managed database services with Azure Database for MySQL and Azure Database for PostgreSQL. Like the other news coming out of this massive moment for Microsoft, these new database offerings are about helping customers do what they truly want with technology. As a company, we’re helping developers thrive in the modern cloud-first, mobile-first environment where intelligent apps are being built across many platforms. They need to be able to work with data where they want, and we’re meeting them where that data lives.

Introducing Azure Functions Runtime previewhttps://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/introducing-azure-functions-runtime-preview/

Customers have embraced Azure Functions because it allows them to focus on application innovation rather than infrastructure management. The simplicity of the Functions programming model that underpins the service, has been key to enable this. This model that allows developers to build event-driven solutions and easily bind their code to other services, while using their favorite developer tools, has good utility even outside the cloud.

Today we are excited to announce the preview of Azure Functions Runtime that brings the simplicity and power of Azure Functions to on-premises.

Announcing Windows Server Container orchestration with Azure Service Fabrichttps://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcin g-windows-server-container-orchestration-with- azure-service-fabric/

Many of you have existing workloads either already running inside containers, or are moving to containers as the first step to run in the cloud. Running a traditional application inside containers is an easy first step to gain some benefits of a microservices architecture, such as improved density and easier application lifecycle management. Azure Service Fabric is Microsoft’s microservices platform and today we're excited to announce the release of Service Fabric 5.6 runtime and 2.6 SDK with orchestration of Windows Server Containers now generally available. This release comes with many features targeted towards container orchestration including a DNS service, resource governance, integration with OMS for container diagnostics, support for mounting volume drivers, and Hyper-V isolation.

We’re also excited to announce a separate preview release of the Service Fabric runtime and SDK that contains support for Docker Compose for deploying containerized apps to Service Fabric with Visual Studio 2017 tooling integration. Visual Studio Team Services also includes support for continuous
