Artist Collaborative Channel TWo (CH2) invites the audience to step into their playful world

Anonymous Redirect (/dev/rand/>*) Exhibition: November 15, 2013 – January 17, 2014 Opening Reception: Friday November 15, 6-8:30 pm Cleveland, Ohio, September 21, 2013 - Artist collaborative Channel TWo (CH2) brings together a collection of new media art projects. Anonymous Redirect (/dev/rand/>*) involves a range of Protocols, Instances, and Artifacts from Channel TWo's new media inventory. The major component,” Episodes" is a virtual environment of intersecting levels, landfill, fortune, and mixed-up (realities). It involves the experience of a large rolling landscape, uncapped landfills, concrete portals, and CLOUDS. Gallery visitors use a game controller to navigate the virtual spaces. CH2’s current iconographic array [Seven, Soda, Cherries, Coins, Bones, Bomb] is embedded again and again throughout the landscape, acting as cues to the games taking place beneath the surface and outside the gallery in real life. Other installation components include a game card, unattended vaporware, and CH2 station IDs.

ARTIST BIOS Channel TWo (CH2), launched in 1990, again in 2000, and again in 2009. CH2 lives in Chicago Ill, and is comprised of artists Adam Trowbridge, Jessica Westbrook, and Oskar Westbridge. At times additional collaborators have joined CH2. It is this combination of perspectives, motivations, research, knowledge, skill, and public/private lifestyle that makes Channel TWo. Channel TWo (CH2), is a studio/research construct focused on mixed reality, media production, design, development, and distribution‚ authorized formats + unauthorized ideas, systems of control + radical togetherness. Channel TWo is loosely aligned with the concept of over-identification, Slavoj Žižek’s description of a tactic intended to reveal the hidden nature of dominant ideologies -- not by pointing to them but by becoming extreme forms of them. Channel TWo (CH2) studio productions generally intersect joyful/play-oriented aesthetic experiences and user interfaces with critical undercurrents. Together they intentionally collapse hierarchies, authorship, and ownership while blurring the boundaries between events, behaviors, and production.
