Philosophy of Education
Academic ExpectationsAcademic expectations and
continuous academic progress are two very important components to remember when planning any educational
program.I believe that not only do the
children need to know what your
expectations of them are, but their parents and caregivers need to know as well in order for the children to show continuous academic progress.
Choices The children should be given
opportunities for making genuine choices. One way
that this can be accomplished is through “purposeful play” at center time. I
believe that children do learn while engaging in various types of play. I would
encourage active student involvement during
learning experiences to give an atmosphere of acceptance and increase the children’s feelings of belonging.
Diversity I want my classroom to foster an environment that helps children appreciate diversity and
acknowledge individual contributions. I believe
that all children can learn and will learn
when they recognize themselves in the curriculum. In my classroom, each child and his/her family will be treated with enthusiasm and respect.
Involvement Family involvement in the classroom
is key to any successful school.
Monthly meetings, newsletters, positive
notes or calls home, and volunteer
opportunities would keep the parent/teacher communication open for suggestions and improvement. Family involvement creates a positive attitude and experience in the children’s education.
