BSNL E-group
Our elders are having fun every Tuesday – with bhojan, bhajan and manoranjan – a super day out
for them amongst friends. We start at 12 and finish at 4 pm with a full vegetarian lunch in-between
– which is usually donated by our members and their families celebrating their birthdays,
anniversaries, and other events. They get pleasure and satisfaction in feeding fellow elderly
Brahmins.
Our menus and quality of food and at the right price is managed by Dr Sharadbhai Mehta, in charge
of Catering & Dining. Entertainment is a key success factor and very well managed by Mr
Shashikantbhai Mehta, our Manoranjan Leader. We have lots of singing with live music and many
discussion topics of value to members. We also enjoy special celebrations with lots of variety and
fun items performed by our elders organised by Dr Mukundbhai Mehta, our Special Events
Convenor. Our last special event was on 3rd May which was a huge success with over 66 roles to
include the maximum number of our members to participate. Inclusion is part and parcel of our
feel-good ethos. And with a houseful scenario every week it is important to manage attendance and
members register which is very ably done by Mrs Prafulaben Purohit, our Membership Manager.
Not many people know that we run our eGroup yoga (eYoga) classes every week under the
leadership of Mrs Nirmalaben Rawal. We have been lucky to have Mrs Kalpnaben Purohit-Patel, a
Ramdev Baba Patanjli Peeth trained professional yoga teacher.
We have lots of volunteers giving selfless service to our elders – too many to mention including Mr
& Mrs Bipinbhai & Jayaben Dave looking after serving food and Mr Pramodbhai Mehta looking after
Health & Safety and Hall Management.
And our recent highlight was our 11 day eCruise in the Mediterranean on a brand new cruiser,
Carnival Vista, visiting 5 countries and docking at 8 ports where we had super excursions in each
port. We all had a wonderful time.
I am grateful for the support given by our Board of Trustees to our Elders Group.
