OUR SERVICES
We are the central source of information about private funders and
their interests in the health sciences. We can help you with a strategic
approach to ensure your project is positioned for success, including:
• Meet with you to learn about your project needs and your
relationships with funders
• Search for a funding match
• Help you write a compelling proposal and ensure your
request is appropriate under institutional policies
• Secure required attachments, documentation, and signatures
• Submit vetted and polished final product.
Once a proposal is submitted, we can help you by:
• Coordinating logistics should a funder request a campus visit
• Managing the gift agreement process, including legal
approval of the document and securing
authorized institutional signatures
• Stewarding funders through timely reporting
and relationship building on behalf of the
institution and future grant seekers.
CORPORATE AND FOUNDATION RELATIONS AT THE MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES FOUNDATION
The Medical and Health Sciences Foundation (MHSF) raises funds for the
University of Pittsburgh’s six schools of the health sciences and UPMC
hospitals. The Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) team assists
faculty, staff, and clinicians to identify and apply for charitable gifts
and targeted funding opportunities supported by industry and private
foundations. Our expertise will guide you through the entire philanthropic
fundraising process.

Do your services cost anything? No, we provide our services free of charge.
Should I wait until I know who I want to approach for support? There is no need to wait. Our knowledge about funders’ priorities can
help ensure your project is matched with a prospect that aligns with your
needs. As soon as we know about your project we can search for possible
funders and begin sharing guidelines and criteria for applications.
Do you work with my school or department fundraiser? Yes, your school or department fundraisers are a part of the MHSF
team. We work in tandem with our colleagues and take the lead on
submissions to corporations and foundations.
