Thelockis75-feet longby 19-feetwide. Hoursofoperationare0800-1800ESTand0800-1900DaylightSavingsTimebyMarinaStaffor24hoursbyyachtsmenwithakeycard.

HarbourStrollOnaweekendinDecember,theCommunityhostsabeautifulevent,calledHarbourStroll.Adultsandchildrenalikecherishthistime,ashomesandboatspositionedalongthebeautifullydecoratedharbouraredecoratedintheseason’sspirit. EncounterswithSantaClaus,promenadegames,and stations offering refreshments add to the festivities. This activityhasbecome“tradition”withinWH.“SecretJudges”tourthecommunitypriortothiseventand, ifyouhavepre-registeredtoparticipate,prizesare awarded to owners of “Best decorated properties and/or boats”.Information on this fun event will be available to you in your POAnewsletter, Marina newsletter, and in The Log, which is the SCYC’s bi-monthlynewsletter.And,ifyou’reaSCYCmember,withplanstodineontheweekendofHarbourStroll,makesuretomakeyourreservationswellinadvance,asthiseventisverypopular.

SpeedLimits/TrafficRulesPleaseadheretoourpostedspeedlimits.Reducespeedtoa10mphlimitanywhere near the gatehouse, and always as you enter and leave thecommunity.Within thecommunity, it’s25mph,withobservanceofallstopsigns.Infractionsofthesepostedrulesmayresultinamonetaryfine.

Marsh rats are prevalent on HHI, and we have ourshare,aswell.Theycomeintothecommunityfromthemarshes.Ifyouhavepestorcrittercontrol issues,pleaseconsultwiththepestcontrolserviceofyourchoosing,andcheckyourresidencethoroughly,lookingfor areas where rodents mightfind access.Raccoons.You’ll see these,too,mostlyatnight.Keepyourrefusecanssecurelycovered,andgaragedoorsclosed.

HalloweenAsacommunityeffort,thePOA,MOAandSCYChostafuneveningknownas“TrunkorTreat”attheSCYC.Childrencollectcandyandgoodiesfromdecoratedgolfcartsandcars,enjoyaHayridearoundthecommunityandtesttheirfearsintheHauntedHallway;afterwhichchildrenareencouragedtoTrickorTreataroundWindmillHarbourathomesdisplayingthe“Ghost”sign.ThesemaybepickedupattheGatehousepriortoHalloween.

WildlifeWe do have a few alligators in our ponds. They’re small, 4 to 6 feet,and they are not to be fed or provoked. Residents with children andpetsshouldbeespeciallycautious.FeedingalligatorsisagainstSClaw.Snakes.Yes,WHhassnakes.Everycommunity intheLowCountryhastheirshareofsnakes,bothgoodandbad.Althoughsightingsarerare,alwaysusecautionwhenwalkingoutside,andespeciallywhilegarden-

beusedasreceptaclesforgardendebris.Outsidelandscapingcompaniesareresponsibleforremovingtheirowndebris.

GetYourGreenOnAn afternoon of Irish fun, food and games is held on St. Patrick’s DayweekendattheWindmillHarbourRealEstateOffice.WHandMOApropertyowners/rentersandSCYCmembersenjoycornedbeefandcabbage,beerandwine.EveryonebringsanIrishsidedishforotherstoshare.

Witha tremendous show ofAmericanpride,ourJuly4thParade participants ensureall those positioned alongthe parade route enjoy areallygoodshow!Theparadegenerallybeginsat10:00a.m.andwelcomesdecoratedgolfcarts, bicycles, and vintagecars - even skateboarders!The parade starts at theHarbourmaster’scircle,andgoesalongHarbourPassage,CrosstreeDrive,withfanfareandconclusionattheSCYCSportsCenterforrefreshmentsandpresentationofawards.

GolfMembership in the Golf Group is open to members of the WindmillHarbour Community – POA, MOA and the SCYC. Our arrangementprovidesgolfingprivilegesatseverallocalgolfcoursesatreducedrates7daysaweekwithnolimitationsexceptproofofresidency.Unlikeothercommunitiesthathavegolfcoursesthereisnoannualormonthlyfee.

WalkingPathsManyofourresidentsenjoywalkingorrunninginandaroundWindmillHarbour.Thereareseveralpathsaswellasshort-cutstodiscover.Aloop,whichwouldincludemoststreetsintheneighborhood,isessentially4to 5 miles. For your own personal safety wear reflective clothing andwalkagainsttrafficsoyouwillbealertedtotheapproachofoncomingvehicles. This is especially important if you exercise to music usingheadphonesandwalkorrunagainsttraffic.

CommunityPoolThe pool is located at the corner of Indian Hill and Harbour Passage.Thepool isnotheated,but isgenerallyniceandwarmbymid-spring,goingintolatefall.Thereareloungechairsandtablesforpicnics.Pleaseberespectfulofthosewhoresideclosesttothepoolarea.Smoking isprohibited.Parkingislimited.

CommunityFishingPierTheCommunityPierislocatedoffCrosstreeDrive,adjacenttoWestwindVillasandReefClubDrive.Residentsmakeuseofittolaunchtheirkayaksandpaddleboards,positioncrabpotcages,tofish,ortosimplysetupachairtotakeinthebeautifulviewsandexperienceaglorioussunset.Note:Iffishing,aSCFishingLicenseisrequired:Tel.803-734-3833

SparwheelPocketPark&DolphinParkSparwheelPocketParkistotheleftof63SparwheelLane.DolphinParkislocatedattheendofthe“RainbowRow”ofhomesonSpindleLane.Followalittlefootpathdowntothesteps,andthereitis:ADolphinfountain,frontingtheharbour,isaperfectplaceforpicnicsandgatherings.DolphinParkisjustonelocationwithinourcommunitywhereGardenSeminarsareheld.
