To all my sons and daughters in Christ! There is only one source of hope, Jesus Christ our Lord – He is the source of our lasting hope. But hope in the Lord is a decision that we
have to make. This brings us to the theme of the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA):
WE DARE TO HOPE
In daring to hope, we express our faith and love in the Lord and in daring to hope, we will find ourselves loving and caring for the spiritual and physical well-being of those in our Diocese and elsewhere. This is what animates and drives our hope and love for the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal. Our parish needs to raise $40,000 to do our part in spreading the faith and sharing the love of Jesus Christ around the Diocese of Madison. Pledges can either be paid all at once OR over a period of 5 months. I will be pledging $500 to the ACA which equals $100 per month. I ask anyone else who can to please do the same. If everyone in our parish pledges $200 to the ACA or $40 per month, we will make our goal. Know that, in hope, I ask you to do what you can – some can give more, others less. Let’s make the ACA part of our great Lenten Disciplines and a witness to our Faith. I love you all like Jesus! Fr. Eric

DynamicCatholic.com/40Days Heavenly Father, As I enter another week of my Lenten journey, guide me to the path that leads to you. Fill my heart with gratitude, patience, strength, and peace as I strive to become the-best-version-of-myself, honestly admitting my shortcomings and sins. As I renew my resolve each day to become a better person, let me hear your voice in the deepest reaches of my heart. Give me rest in you. Help me to accept others, showing them your great love instead of casting judgment. Stay with me through the busy days this week and remind me that when I need comfort, solitude, wisdom, or guidance, I can always turn to you. Help me develop discipline and generosity through fasting and almsgiving, and come closer to you through prayer this Lent. Amen.

Reflect on the meaning of the cross with Fr. Mike Schmitz. In his talk, Fr. Schmitz explores how God’s rescue mission includes the need for each of us to embrace our own cross, that we may re-establish trust in the Father and fully understand that love requires sacrifice.

Question of the week: In the Gospel, God says, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.” (Mark 9:7) What is Jesus saying to me? What is Jesus asking me to do?
Next weekend, March 3/4, Father Eric will lead the in-pew process for the Annual Catholic Appeal. Those who have not made a pledge by mail will be asked to do so at this time. Please read the annual appeal tabloid found on the table in the Gathering Room. It provides a detailed explanation of the use of the funds that you are asked to give. In addition to funding the work of the diocese, if the appeal exceeds goal with funds received, it will reach out through a grants program to help Catholic schools, religious education programs and assist distressed parishes in need. Each household is asked to make a generous gift. In doing so, please consider making a pledge, payable over five months. Thank you for your support of our parish, Diocese and the work of the Church.

Lent is a call not just to “give up something” but more important to “give something for the poor.” Wherever you live in the parish, there are poor families within a few blocks or miles of your home. This month, through your gifts,
the Saint Cecilia Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to assist 28 families in January, providing $7792.00 in utilities, rent, emergency lodging, travel, RX and other needs plus $296.00 in free furniture and clothing. God bless you!

KING’S CHALLENGE
Do a sibling’s chore for them. If you do not have a sibling, do a chore for your Mom and Dad.
Cesia Lea Gomez is from the rural town of Somoto, Nicaragua, close to the Honduran border. Although it is a beautiful farming community, there are few job opportunities for young people, especially women. Many leave their communities to find work, but Cesia wanted to stay home with her parents and younger sibling. With her mother’s encouragement, Cesia decided to pursue her dream of starting a business. The CRS YouthBuild program helped her achieve that dream.
