The new Anita Fashion partial breast form 1056X2 proves yet again that wearing a prosthesis is no bar to an attractive appearance. Its decorative printed fabric back, designed to harmonise with all Anita Care bras, makes you look good and feel good. The new product not only recreates a symmetry with the natural breast but also has an attractive, linge-rie-like appearance. Further comfort advantages are a pleasant skin climate thanks to breathable microfibre and a sheer, soft edge profile.

News
Last August saw our new ANITA website go live, as reported in this magazine.
The central element of the site is a global, non-country-specific store locator function that lets you search for – and get directions to – your local ANITA stockist.
The locations of the stores are displayed on an interactive map and listed in order of distance from the user.
Already know the name of the store you’re looking for? No prob-
range of product lines and contact details (email, phone, fax, website and opening times).
Small, solid-coloured Anita hearts indicate whether the store has a small, medium or large stock of ANITA products in the individ-ual lines. Three solid-coloured “Premium” hearts mean a store is optimally equipped with the rele-vant product line.
All data are maintained and up-dated on an ongoing basis by our in-house ANITA staff.
Are you looking for a suitable ANITA stockist near you?
Then take a look at our website www.anita.com – our super Store Locator is guaranteed to come up trumps!
lem. Our Store Locator will help you find its exact whereabouts. Simply enter your present location in the search mask along with the town or specific store you’re after.
The located stores will then be pinpointed on an interactive map to give you a detailed initial over-
view. The pins appear in the colour of the relevant product line, so you can see at a glance which lines are available from which stockists and select or deselect them as required.
You are also given as much de-tail as possible on the displayed stockists, including their address,

“You have breast cancer”. The di-agnosis I received on 18 September, 1995 hit me like a body blow. I was only 42, no-one in the family suf-fered from breast cancer and I led a healthy life. Two partial mastec-tomies, four courses of chemother-
apy and six weeks of daily radiation gave me ample opportunity to mull the whole thing over.
First, I concentrated on my body. What changes could I make? I had
always made an effort to exercise regularly and eat well, but there was still room for improvement. The next question was: could psy-chological and emotional factors also be to be blame? After some reflection and reading around the

subject, it became clear to me that the stress and hectic pace of life I had willingly accepted could have contributed to the weakening of my immune system. But how do you go about changing ingrained psychological and emotional pat-terns of behaviour? This was to prove much more difficult than simply changing my diet and get-ting more exercise.
My period of self-reflection made me realise that I often regarded people, situations and experiences in a negative light. Then I remem-bered the Albert Einstein quote: “In the middle of difficulty lies op-portunity”. That led me to ask my-self: could I change the way I felt, look at my cancer diagnosis differ-ently and see it as an opportunity? Yes, I could! I decided to treat my cancer and subsequent treatments as a chance to slow down and learn to appreciate the many good things in my life.
At the same time, I resolved to find something positive in all my future experiences. Over the long term, this has taught me to discov-er a hidden blessing in every sit-uation. That way I keep the pessi-
mistic, anxious thoughts towards which I would normally tend in check. I also noticed that some of the people in my life had a negative effect on me. I needed a tool to help me deal with such people. I think of this as an imaginary circle around me. I decide who belongs
inside the circle, i.e. people who think positively and are a support to me, people who buoy me up and who care. People who drag me down remain outside.
In practical terms, that means I try to have as little contact with them as possible and distance my-self from them emotionally.
I have had many wonderful ex-periences as a result of getting breast cancer. I have done things
I would never have imagined doing before: jumping out of a plane at the age of 50, gaining a master’s in spiritual psychology at 51, taking part in a dragon boat race, entering a triathlon and running my first marathon at 53. But I no longer spend my life rushing around. To-
day I realise that it doesn’t matter how fast I am to the finishing line. What matters is the joy of learning new things along the way, and supporting
others in the process.I have regarded all my career
decisions as an opportunity for personal development, as part of a learning process. But it was even more important to me to be in a better position to help others. The same goes for my time as a Care Consultant for Anita International: I simply enjoyed working with wonderful people and doing what I could for them. Henry David Tho-reau once said: “It’s not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The ques-tion is: what are we busy about?” So I try to make decisions that are consistent with what I want to achieve in life.
Info
Chris Hubbard has a BA in Business Administration specialising in Marketing, and a Master’s in Spiritual Psychology. She has given her time and experience to numerous charitable and cancer-related organisations for decades. A breast cancer survivor since 1995, she has pledged herself to supporting those with similar diagnoses. Ever since, she has sought to overcome fear, depression and negative feelings in stressful situations, and to help herself by developing a positive attitude through highly creative practical steps. In the US, she has made a name for herself with her original workshop concept “Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard”. This initiative seeks to help people find their own “recipe” for a fulfilled life. Chris‘s favourite saying is: “Life is too short to be unhappy; humour is essential. There are always options and opportunities for growth in every situation”. Her aim is to love, learn and help. She is currently working as Project Director for the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation in California, and lives with her husband Barry in San Jose.

and wrote little poems to help cheer me up during my time in hospital after the operation. She looked after my children, cooked, ironed and did the shopping, while taking

My name is An and I am 37 years old, married to a fantastic husband and a mother of four bright boys.
All was well until I was diag-nosed with breast cancer in No-vember 2013. The news came as a bombshell, and was extremely hard for everyone around me to deal with, not least because my mother had been diagnosed with the same thing the year before. The memories of that difficult time were still fresh in all our minds. And now me … my children were eleven, eight, five and three at the time.
I was told I had tumours in both breasts, and that I would have to

After these first six weeks I stopped wearing the padding, but at that time I was incredibly glad of it. The prosthetist also gave me some brochures with breast forms and lingerie for women after breast surgery. Leafing through the pages, I blurted out: “Why can’t they show women without breasts? These models have noth-ing in common with me.” Then Lieve asked me if she could pass on my contact details to Anita. They needed occasional volun-teers to model lingerie at fashion shows. I agreed on the spot.
My spell in hospital was fol-lowed by a rehabilitation phase. After six weeks, I bought my first breast forms and a bra from a specialist lingerie shop. I was surprised at how closely the breast forms resembled my real breasts, and thanks to a perfectly bra model you really can’t tell I’ve had both breasts amputat-ed. After all the difficult times over the previous few months, that was a really positive moment.
The next stage was a course of radiation therapy. I had complete-ly underestimated how much this would take it out of me, as fatigue turned to constant exhaustion. During this time, Anita got in touch with me. We were immedi-ately on the same wavelength, and I was soon asked whether I would like to take part in my first fashion show. Boy, was I nervous! As a lecturer, I was used to stand-ing in front of an audience, but this was quite a different thing. I found it very satisfying though: I could show my fellow sufferers that there’s no need to be
ashamed of your appearance. Anita makes such attractive,
high-quality lingerie products and swimwear that you feel every bit a woman again. Since then, I have volunteered on a regular basis to model Anita products for other
women in very different environ-ments. I have modelled last year’s and this year’s collections several times, and I think they’re stun-ning. There’s something for every woman here. For that reason, I can rule out breast reconstruction
surgery categorically. I don’t want to put
myself through another opera-
tion, particular-
ly since it would involve a double reconstruction in my case. I feel at
ease in my body as it is. Of course I miss my breasts, but I don’t think reconstructive surgery can ever overcome that sense of loss. For me, Anita is the best alternative: the breast forms and lingerie make me feel feminine and attrac-
tive – and that’s what matters for me.
It is now nearly a year since I was diag-nosed. I haven’t got over it properly yet. I still
think about the whole situation one way or another every day. The surgical scars and the effects of the radiation therapy still both-er me. And I still struggle with fatigue. Going back to work isn’t an option at the moment. That’s why I really enjoy taking part in fashion shows now and again. And the longer and more often I do them, the more I realise what a valuable experience they can be
to the other women I meet there. Just making contact and talking to fellow sufferers does you good. So my message to all affected women and the rest of the world is: don’t be afraid to be as you are!
An is unwilling to put herself through reconstructive surgery
An still thinks about her diagnosis every day, but finds working as an Anita model highly satisfying
