Cargo Dry Pak Shipping products around the world come across
different temperatures and humidity conditions. This variation causes damage to cargo due to
moisture. Every year thousands of containerized cargos are
damaged by moisture problems like metal partsarrive corroded, Cardboard boxes mould and wet.
Food commodities are found to be unfit forconsumption.

Moisture damage is caused by:
• Condensation :
- In the ceiling and on the walls of the container.- On the cargo ( Cargo Sweat)
• Prolonged periods of elevated humidity
•
Condensation takes place on the coldest available surface, often in container ceiling.
• Liners protect against container rain, but not against
humidity.
• It is the Relative Humidity that matters.

The Moisture Balance in a Shipping Container
Moisture in the air in the container derives from theoutside and from the cargo. Desiccants remove moisture
from the air.

Cargo Dry Pak
Humid air enters container when cargo is loaded and enclosed
with container cargo.

The quantity of moisture that can be contain in cubicmeter depends on the Relative Humidity & Temperatures
High Temperature = High quality of moisture in air.Low Temperature = Low quality of moisture in air.
Warm air can hold more moisture than cold air, as water to remainsuspended in the air needs energy.
That is why phenomenon of condensation occurs in presence of highhumidity ,when the temperature falls down the moisture can’t remain
suspended in the air.

When the temperature drops, the pressure in the container drops,
and air with ambient moisture content enters the container(breathing-in). When the temperature goes up, the opposite
happens (breathing-out).

Cargo Dry Pack Protects against Moisture
Active substance Calcium Chloride + Bentonite
High absorption capacity, more than 100 % of own weight
High rate of absorption at all levels of humidity above 40 %
The Cargo Dry Pak will not get exhausted when the humidity is higher in theinitial time period (Day 1-Day 7) Thus it should sustain for min days 50 Days.
The Cargo dry Pak even at high humidity conditions the rate of adsorption isconstant & slow, it will never saturate fast.
Does not re-evaporate moisture once adsorbed, Will never leach brine solutionas compared to others.
Non-toxic, safe with food products and environmentally safe, USFDA
Approved & ROHS compliant. Easily mounted and mechanically protected
Fits into wall corrugation
Suitable for all applications in shipping containers

Cargo Dry Pak : Usage & Recommendations
T he number of cargo dry pak to be used may
Very depending on shipping conditions and
The nature of the products being protected.
General Recommendations :
For 20 feet container :
500 gms x 30 Nos.
Or
1500 gms x10 Nos.
For 40 feet container :
500 gms x 60 Nos.
Or
1500 gms x 20 Nos.

Check List While Using Cargo Dry Pak : Make sure pallets, container flooring & crates are also dry.
Consumer goods cargoes usually contain a lot of cardboard packaging whichmay release moisture.
Some metal cargoes are at risk even at moderately increased humidity (>60 %)
Many anti-corrosive oils and films contain water which may release moisture.
A cargo with a small volume increases the volume of breathing.
Mind the loading temperature – A cool cargo in warm surroundings may be arisk for weeks (even if the cargo is dry)
For a short voyage, the number of Bags can be reduced by using Less Quantitiesof 500 gm or 1500 grams

Check List before shipping Close the vent holes with tape when you have a dry cargo. The
container will still breathe, but more slowly. Moist cargo may be
shipped with vent holes open or closed.
No corrosion or holes on any side , doors and seals are in goodconditions.
Check that the container floor, pallets and packaging are dry. Softwoodpackaging should have maximum 18-19 % moisture not more than that.
Cargo in pallets must be able to dry. Check that any shrink wrap orother plastic packaging does not cover completely.
Check that the Cargo Dry pack are not covered. There should be atleast a few cm of free space in front of most of the grille area.
Check that all Bags are securely hung and that any Bags will not becrushed by the cargo .
