Contemporary Shaker Kitchen with Curved Breakfast BarAyesha Parmar, Stoneham
THE SOLUTION:Based on the recommendation of former Stoneham clients,
the couple enlisted the assistance of designer Ayesha Parmar
to help make their dream kitchen a reality. Stoneham’s Aspen
Oak Painted furniture range provides a classic and sleek look.
In Sand Grey, the simple minimalist cabinets create a subtle
and noticeable contrast to the smooth Cashmere counters.
The worktops – in Princess White Quartz - and hints of Rainbow
Sparkle splashback accurately capture Mrs C’s personality
without overpowering the neutral look. The bright whites were
well complemented by the slightly darker tones of the bar and
tray units in Fogged Oak Timber.

THE BRIEF:Having made a home swap with her mother, Mrs C and her husband wanted to completely revamp their detached family home in Bromley so it was better suited to their taste. The couple desired a warm shaker style kitchen with a contemporary feel to smoothly integrate with their open plan downstairs living space. It had to complement their lively family life while remaining functional for their two young daughters.

The solution (continued):
A large corner pantry provides plenty of storage space
and is elegantly lit by neat LED spotlights – which were
also utilised on the underside of the prominent canopy
above the hob. Warm LED strip lighting was used inside
the bar unit and makes a feature of the bifold mirrored
dresser. Further storage is provided using a shallow spice
rack in front of one of the pillars, making the most of a
small space which could otherwise have gone to waste.
The curved breakfast bar not only complements the
squared edges of the cabinets, it also creates a social
space where the entire family can enjoy breakfast and
snack times.
Practicality was also key when it came to the appliances. With
two young daughters to keep an eye on, the latest technology
was used to make the kitchen as efficient as possible. The
Quooker Flex tap provides instant boiling water, while the Single
Siemens pyrolytic oven means there’s one less thing the family
have to worry about cleaning. The gas hob and extractor make
excellent use of the kitchen’s standout canopy feature without
cutting down on vital functionality for a busy family life.
The Clarkes now have a kitchen which works seamlessly with
their remodelled contemporary home and offers an ideal social
space to spend time as a family or with friends.
