Introduction

Best Care Ambulance Service CC was established in the year 2000 and is celebrating its 20th Birthday in

2020. Elize and Kobus Bester, Husband and Wife, started with a single vehicle and has grown Best Care

together with its staff to what it has become today, one of the leading ambulance services in Pretoria. Thank

Our History

Best Care Ambulance Service CC opened its doors on 20 August 2000. Starting off with one ambulance,

husband and wife as the crew members and transporting patients for next to nothing. One vehicle became

a fleet of eight vehicles.

Best Care expanded over the years, by means of fleet expansion and staff development, to what it is today.

Best Care is a fully registered Intermediate Life Support service and has a Service Level Agreement with

Ambu-Link Ambulance Service to serve as our Advanced Life Support unit. We adhere to the strict code of

conduct of the Board of Healthcare Funders and EMS Regulations promulgated by the Minister of Health in

2017.

Training Division

Best Care Ambulance Service is proud to have Best Care Training Services as the official training company

for public safety development, AHA Courses and Home Safety Courses.

Best Care Training Service, directed by Janey Kotzé, has years of experience in offering a wide range of

courses accredited with the Department of Labour, HWSETA and the American Heart Association.

Our Equipment

Here at Best Care Ambulance Service CC our equipment is our pride. Leading with state of the art,

internationally recognized, equipment and compliant with the highest standards. All our equipment are fully

functional and up to date with its service records as per manufacturer instructions. Best Care Ambulance

Service is the only ambulance service in South Africa that provides pre-hospital resuscitation with the famous

LUCAS CPR Device (2018).

Best Care and Dr. Grobler from Labstix Diagnostics secured an

agreement to bring essential diagnostics to the patients' doorstep.

Cardiac Markers, Arterial Blood Gas, Coagulation and Infection

Markers can now be retrieved in the pre-hospital environment,

narrowing down a diagnosis to improve quality of care.

All our ambulances are symmetrically equipped with the same

brand of equipment on each vehicle. Our stretchers are supplied by Ferno, accommodating patients near

200kg. Established in 1974 and with almost 40 years' experience, Ferno specializes in the supply of a

complete suite of products to meet the needs of ambulance, emergency, rescue and height safety. Best

Care's electronic devices are internationally recognized and supplied.

Our defibrillators, Patient Monitors, CPR Devices are all unique in its own way accompanied with their

calibration certificates. We always strive to maintain a great standard and range of equipment, hence

constantly supplying the latest equipment available on the market to the benefit of patient care.

Our Fleet

Best Care Ambulance Service has a current fleet of 8 Operational vehicles. We have a total of 7 ambulances.

We have 1 Primary Response Vehicle (PRV). The function of the PRV is to provide support to the

ambulances and stabilization protocols prior the arrival of ambulances.

All our ambulances are equipped beyond the standards set out by the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF)

our ambulances are always manned by Intermediate Life Support staff. All our vehicles are registered as

‘Ambulance’ or ‘Rescue Vehicle’ according to the regulations set out by the National Road Traffic Act.

All our vehicles are up to date with their services plans and maintenance are done every second week to

ensure safe and fast response times. Our siren systems are of great standard and produces best available

sound (200W Dual Siren Systems) and some of our vehicles are fitted with a rare device known as the

Jackhammer System, a system that also vibrates nearby objects to alert motorist the presence of our

ambulances.

Our Services

24/7 Control Centre

Best Care offers a 24/7 control center where the telephone operators are minimally qualified as a Basic Life

Support practitioners. Our dispatching process serves as one of our best qualities, since we eliminate a lot

of pre-arrival time with our quick dispatching. We offer telephonic medical advice and provide directory

access to other service providers i.e. funeral parlor, fire brigade, Tshwane EMS, tow-in services and

municipal services.

24/7 Emergency Response

Best Care offers a 24/7 emergency response to all medical and trauma emergencies reported to us. Best

Care is well known on multiple communication platforms where ambulance dispatching takes place and are

one of the leading ambulance services in Pretoria. Best Care is a preferred Service Provider for multiple

organizations.

24/7 Emergency Identification

Best Care has its own identification product which allows our clients to be identified in any emergency. We

offer medical bracelets which are uniquely numbered and are user friendly to make patient identification

simple and effective. Our unique bracelets provide nationwide emergency service access to its owners. Best

Careline Identity also launched a Service Provider Smartphone App to speed up the identification process in

the event of an emergency.

Medical Standby Events & Schools

Best Care offers medical services in accordance with the Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act and

the South Africa National Regulations at public events and school sport events. Best Care also provides

medical plans needed for submission at the JOC as required. Best Care offered services to major events in

the past ranging from musical concerts to raceway events.

Inter Facility Transfers

With state of the art equipment, spacious interiors and well trained staff, we offer transportation services from

one facility to another. We also have direct consultation access to a network of Medical Officers to consult

in complex situations.

Industrial Support and Injury on Duty

Best Care offers a 24/7 emergency response to all medical and trauma emergencies in the workplace. We

are covered for Injuries on Duty (IOD) patients who are registered with the Compensations Commissioner.

In the event that a person is not registered with the Compensations Commissioner we offer special tariffs to

accommodate the company.

On site Medical Services

Best Care offers on-site medical services to provide direct emergency support at a specific

building/premises/organization. This provides direct access to emergency service for a specific organization

or its clients. Best Care serviced the University of Pretoria students and personnel in 2018 and provided

great response times and excellent emergency care to the on-site patients.

Medical Movie Scenes & Photoshoots

Best Care thought of brining realism into local soaps, music videos and movie scenes. We offer medical

personnel, equipment, advice and support to the media industry as props or actors in the abovementioned

publications. Best Care is the official service providers for various soaps such as 7de Laan, Scandal,

Muvhango and The River. We have assisted multiple artists in the past with their music videos, the likes of

Bouwer Bosch, Dirk van der Westhuizen and Len Muller were pleased with our involvement in their music

videos.

Community Involvement & Development

Volunteer Program

Best Care is one of the few services who has a proper Volunteer System in place with over 50 actively

booking volunteers, all registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Best Care develops

the volunteers and provides opportunity for growth and employment. Best Care Volunteer System (BCVS)

has created employment opportunities for more than 30 individuals since initiated.

Community Projects

Best Care is known for its involvement in the community and supporting local community initiatives. Best

Care runs the annual Community Christmas Project which reaches out to 20 000+ members of the public.

Best Care does school visits for children entertainment and career development speeches.

Non-Profit Company

Best Care endorses Emergency Support Team (EST), a NPC from which one of our Operational Staff is a

Director of. Emergency Support Team is a voluntarily group of individuals/organizations with appropriate

medical and safety training (within their disciplines/scope of practice) that will respond to medical and trauma

emergencies to assist emergency services i) prior arrival with stabilization of patients; ii) ensure scene and

road safety; iii) assist emergency personnel with managing patients and iv) provide necessary assistance i.e.

lights/rehydration/traffic guidance on scenes.
