Page 2: Contents Page Analysis

The contents is split into sections, News, Reviews, Live gigs, etc. These are outlined as white text on a black background, the articles below them are black text on a white background. This style of white text on a black background is used at the top of the page to show that it’s a contents page. An image is used in the centre of the page and the caption to go with it is underneath. Like other magazines, a subscription is offered, but uniquely to this magazine a band index has been introduced. The word page has been abbreviated to P and highlighted in red to make it more obvious.

This contents page is a lot more simpler then NME, It consists of three large images that illustrate what is happening in the magazine mixmag and uses its own style of font to allocate each image to its page reference.

The main images have quite dark backgrounds and the figure in each image is lighten up. The image have a rock feel to them, however the font is quite curvy and like dance/pop in genre. It is split up into music and fashion, with reviews on both subjects.

It uses black text on a white background which is striking and eye catching, as well as easy to read quickly. It is a young persons magazine, probably between adolescence to early twenties.

This contents page from Q has been split up into three sections which have been highlighted in red and black, white text has been used. Only two images have been used, the main image has been placed on the far right top corner. The image is a group shot that isn’t in a studio, but out side. The band is displayed as down to earth, maybe a rock/indie band.

The articles are set out in blocks straight down the side of the page, with reviews in its own separately coloured block under the main image. This regimented scheme is easy to follow and flows with the magazine style perfectly. The font is kept the same however a more straighter font is used for Oasis specials as opposed to the smaller, bolder text used for the rest of the page.
