CONTEST RULES 1. VILA VINITECA proudly announces the 6th AWARD VILA VINITECA A

TASTING CONTEST IN PAIRS (“6º PREMIO VILA VINITECA DE CATA POR PAREJAS”) to be held in Barcelona on March 10th, 2013.

2. The contest is open to everyone over 18 years old. Vila Viniteca employees

cannot enter the competition. 3. To register for the contest you must sign up through our website at

www.vilaviniteca.es/shop. Registration starts on January 6t, 2013. Register early. Seating is limited and is first come first serve.

4. The registration fee is 100 euros per pair. 5. The contest will consist of 2 rounds: ‘The Preliminary’ and the ‘Final Test’.

Each round will proceed as follows:

a) 7 wines will be tasted in each round; they may be whites, reds and special wines, such as cava, champagne, sherry, port or fortified wines.

b) All wines will be served to participants in Riedel glasses (from the Vinum

series - Chianti model) and in other Riedel Vinum glasses suitable for the special wines.

c) Each glass will contain a number that represents a specific wine.

d) The wines are from all around the world with a special emphasis on

Spanish wines. The wines are not necessarily part of the Vila Viniteca portfolio.

e) The wines will be served in a closed room next to the main tasting room.

They will be served only once to each contestant. The process will be supervised at all times by Vila Viniteca employees and a specially-appointed Notary.

f) None of the wines will be decanted.

g) Each round will be limited to 90 minutes.

h) To score points each pair of contestants must together identify the

following characteristics of each wine: 1) Its country of origin (1 point). 2) Its area of origin within the country (1 point). 3) Its Appellation of Origin (2 points). 4) Its grape variety/ies (3 points). 5) Its vintage (3 points). 6) Its winery (3 points). 7) Its brand name (2 points). 8) Tasting notes: Optional. These will only be considered if there is a tie.

i) The top 10 scoring pairs in the Preliminary Round will advance to the

Final Round. j) If, during the Final Round, there is a tie between two or more pairs, their

Preliminary scores will be used to break the tie.

k) In order to guarantee that the participants remain anonymous all answer forms will be identified by a number. This number will be assigned by the Notary supervising the contest.

l) Members of a Pair may talk to each other, but not to any other contestant

or spectator.

m) Each pair must fill out one question form and hand it in to the Jury. Once it is handed in no changes can be made under any circumstances.

n) Mobile phones or any other electronic device must not be used under any

circumstances in the tasting area. The use of any book, catalogue or notes is also forbidden. Contestants are not allowed to leave the tasting area during the contest.

6. The Jury members, appointed by Vila Vinateca, are well-known sommeliers,

oenologists and food & wine journalists. One of the members will act as president.

7. The names of the wines are only known by the Vila Viniteca employees

supervising the contest and by the Notary. The members of the jury will not be informed until the tasting begins.

8. The Notary and the Jury President will officiate the contest and resolve any

questions or disputes. After all answers are evaluated a final score will be given to each pair. The final score will be calculated by adding the scores of each correct answer as indicated under section 5 (h).

9. The Jury’s decision is not appealable unless an obvious irregularity is proven.

Registration in this contest implies the acceptance of these rules. 10. The “6th Award Vila Viniteca a tasting contest in pairs” contest will award

the following prizes:

1st place: € 20,000 2nd place: € 7,000 3rd place: € 3,000

The 3 finalist couples will receive a set of Riedel glasses and decanters.

The 10 finalist couples will receive a lot of wine.

11. All prizes will be awarded. 12. The monetary prizes are subject to all applicable tax laws. 13. Any changes in these rules will be announced to the participants before the

beginning of the contest. 14. A Notary is in charge of the fair supervision and enforcement of these rules. Sponsor:
