Contraction Memory Contents: Box, set of contraction cards, instructions, 6 answer keys Instructions: 1. Place all cards blank side down in a group on a flat surface. 2. Decide who will go first. (this can be done by who has the closest birthday) The first person will flip over two cards. They will check and see if their cards form a contraction and its two base words. If you are not sure check the answer sheet. 3. If they have a match they may take the two cards. Now it is the next persons turn. 4. If there is no match turn the cards over. It is now the next players turn. 5. Once all the pairs have been collected, the person with the most pairs is the winner. 6. Flip this paper over to find out what to do after you finish the game. After playing the game: 1. Take a contraction action form and write down your pairs. Place the contraction from your pair in the contraction column and its two base words in the base word column. 2. Use each contraction from your contraction pairs in a complete sentence. Use 2 contractions from your contraction pairs in a complete sentence Use 4 contractions from your contraction pairs in a complete sentence EXAMPLE: BAD SENTENCE: I’m a good student. GOOD SENTENCE: I’m a good student because I follow directions, listen to the teacher, and complete my work. 3. Choose from the folder contraction worksheets.
