BackgroundEstablishedintheyear2000,ConvergenceisIreland’slongestrunningsustainablelivingfestival.Formorethanadecadethisuniqueprogrammeofeventshascelebratedcommunityresilienceandsocialinclusionwhilstchampioningthechangesneededtocreateasustainableeconomy,societyandbuiltenvironment.
Theseideaswereobviouslynotheededduringthewantonrecklessnessoftheboomyears,buttheresultingdownturnhasbroughttheneedforsystemicchangeintosharpfocusformostpeople.ItisimportanttopointoutthatthereisstilltimeforIrelandtoforgeapathtowardsabrighter,greener,moresustainablefuture.Convergence16focusesonthehugepotentialinthiscountryfordevelopinggreenjobsandresilientcommunities.Thesetwoexcitingareasofopportunityareabsolutelykeytoanyplanstoreinvigoratethiscountry.
FromitsbeginningsinDublin’sTempleBarattheCultivateCentre,Convergencehasgrownintoanationwidefestivalshowingtheappetiteforsustainablesolutionstoourproblems.Joinusforworkshops,forums,films,andcelebrationsandfindouthowyoucangetinvolvedinshapingthefutureofyourlocaleconomy,yourcommunity,andyourcountry.
StakeholdersTheConvergenceFestivalbringstogetherawidevarietyofstakeholders,fromacrossIreland,withinterestsinenvironment,communityandsustainabledevelopment.
