Four years ago, the five members of a Sydney book club decided to team-up to write a “21st Century Thorn Birds”; not one of the five women had published a novel before, each coming from different backgrounds. The result is The Painted Sky, a captivating rural novel that brims with romance, mystery and suspense. Four of the five authors attending are Denise Tart, Jenny Crocker, Jane St Vincent Welch and Jane Richards. In The Painted Sky, city designer Nina Larkin remains haunted by the disappearance of her father, the celebrated artist Jim Larkin, 17 years ago. Kendal St to re-open for Easter weekend In good news for Cowra residents and businesses; Kendal Street is scheduled to be temporarily re-opened over the Easter Long Weekend for shoppers, pedestrians, visitors, and vehicles. This follows steady progress on the $3 million CBD redevelopment that has created an opportunity to re-open the road over the four-day break in the first week of April, Director — Infrastructure and Operaons, George Ridley said. “We’re looking at geng the pedestrian island completed and the hot mix onto the road surface of Stage Two (below Macquarie Street) in a week or so, enabling us to re-open the road for the period from April 3–6,” Mr Ridley said. “Although we will have to come back aſter the Easter break to finish the road, we’re planning for both lanes through Kendal St to be open for the whole of that weekend,” Mr Ridley added. He said that a recent retailers’ meeng had endorsed the progress of the redevelopment and the re-opening of Kendal St for the Easter Weekend. Cowra Council are carrying-out this work as contractors for the Roads and Marime Services with the work planned for compleon in May.
