Observe surgical procedures and learn about the state-of-the-art surgical technology in one of the region’s most
high-tech training facilities.
Gates Biomanufacturing Center

Get a rare inside look at this unique biomanufacturing facility which allows researchers to translate the discoveries
in the lab into cell therapies and clinical-grade protein products that can ultimately be tested in humans.
10:30–11 a.m. Tour of Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine’s Biobank

What purpose do tens of thousands of DNA samples stored in one large facility serve? Come tour the new biobank,
which contains rich deposits of genetic material that could one day reveal the roots of disease, allowing scientists to
develop more targeted therapies.

The Johnson Depression Center’s mission is to improve the lives of people with depression and mood disorders through
clinical excellence, innovative research, community programs, and education. Learn about a variety of careers in behavioral
health from the excellent clinical staff at the Johnson Depression Center.
1–2 p.m. Cardiac and Vascular Center/Heart Catheter Lab
Anschutz Inpatient Division, UCHealth
Cardiac catheterization, or “heart cath” for short, is a procedure used to diagnose and treat many cardiovascular
conditions. During a heart cath, a variety of long, thin wires, catheters, and other compact devices may be inserted in an
artery or vein in the leg, neck or arm and threaded through blood vessels to the heart. While you are visiting
the cath lab, you will discover different professions in cardiology.
2:15–3:45 p.m. Sports Medicine/Athletic Training
Children’s Hospital Colorado
Have you ever wondered who is running out onto the field when an athlete goes down with an injury? The answer is an
athletic trainer (AT). Athletic trainers can be found in more job settings than sports, including hospitals. Children’s Hospital
Colorado athletic trainers will lead an interactive discussion and hands-on experience about AT background and education,
common injuries, and injury prevention/rehab techniques.
