FOREWORD
%HIS brochure is a record. of the second Convocation of the Univer
sity of Malaya. It contains the names of those who obtained degrees
and the orations by the Public Orator in honour of those whose services
were recognized by the conferment of honorary degrees.
The University ceremonial occasions have been notable for their
colour and brilliance and at this Convocation the scene was more
splendid still because for the first time all the graduands upon whom
degrees were conferred were wearing the academic dress of the Univer-
sity of Malaya. This was particularly app~opriate because the Univer-
sity on this occasion paid its tribute to Dr. Charles A. H. Franklyn,
M.D., B.SC., M.R.c.s., F.L.S., F.S.A., by conferring upon him an honor-
ary degree in recognition of his services to the University in designing
such magnificent robes.
